<p>POSITION TITLE: PHYSICIAN (PEDIATRICS)</p> <p>FLSA: EXEMPT</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>A Pediatrics Physician at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is responsible for delivering comprehensive healthcare to infants, children, and adolescents. This role emphasizes preventive care, acute and chronic illness management, and health education, focusing on improving health outcomes for underserved populations within the community.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Direct and manage APRN's and PA's, including but not limited to hiring, training, and performance evaluation. </li><li>Act as the primary point of contact for resolving complex issues or discrepancies. </li><li>Monitor the team's productivity and provide regular feedback to ensure high performance. </li><li>Ensure the team adheres to SCHC principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements. </li></ul> <p>Duties/Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver high-quality medical care to children, including thorough medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic assessments to develop accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. </li><li>Manage a wide range of health issues, including acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, obesity, and diabetes, developing individualized care plans that promote patient engagement and adherence. </li><li>Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal health outcomes. </li><li>Offer preventive health services such as screenings, immunizations, and wellness check-ups to promote early detection and intervention for pediatric patients. </li><li>Conduct developmental screenings and assessments to identify any concerns related to growth and development. </li><li>Educate patients and families on health promotion strategies, lifestyle modifications, and disease prevention tailored to the unique needs of children and adolescents. </li><li>Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including nurses, social workers, and specialists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for pediatric patients. </li><li>Facilitate referrals to specialty care when needed, ensuring effective communication and continuity throughout the healthcare journey. </li><li>Participate in case management and care planning meetings to discuss patient needs and treatment strategies. </li><li>Engage in community outreach and health education programs to raise awareness of pediatric services and promote health literacy in underserved areas. </li><li>Address social determinants of health by connecting families with community resources and support services to improve access to care and health outcomes. </li><li>Advocate for children's health issues within the community and collaborate with local organizations to enhance health services. </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with SCHC policies, federal regulations, and best practices, ensuring confidentiality and data security. </li><li>Stay informed about changes in healthcare policies, regulations, and best practices relevant to pediatrics and FQHC operations. </li><li>Ensure all documentation related to patient care and billing is completed accurately and in a timely manner. </li><li>Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing pediatric care, safety, and patient satisfaction. </li><li>Engage in peer review and case discussions to promote best practices in pediatric healthcare delivery. </li><li>Collect and analyze data on patient outcomes to identify areas for improvement in care delivery. </li><li>Mentor and train medical staff, including residents and nurse practitioners, in pediatric care practices. </li><li>Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. </li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to understand and/or interpret complicated program instructions and Florida laws </li><li>Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Strong supervisory and leadership skills. </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. </li><li>Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. </li><li>Must be able to effectively manage workflow and maintain high-quality standards in environments where staffing levels may be below ideal, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with the team under pressure. </li><li>Ability to use office equipment, including computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and more. </li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related software. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree is required. </li><li>Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) diploma and transcripts are required. </li><li>Board Certified or Eligible is required </li><li>DEA certification is required </li><li>BLS is required </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>May required to remain on their feet to extended periods. </li><li>May work in various settings, including but not limited to outpatient clinics and hospitals. </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 150 pounds to assist fallen patients. </li><li>May be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards. </li><li>Must be able to travel to various center locations as required. </li></ul>
