Head - World Language/ELL</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/9/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Districtwide</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>07/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>until filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Brookfield Public Schools is seeking an Excellent K-12 Curriculum Specialist-World Languages/English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)</p> <p>Location:Brookfield Public Schools</p> <p>Important Dates:</p> <ul> <li>August 25 & 26: New Hire Orientation </li><li>August 27: First Day for Current Teaching Staff </li><li>September 2: First Day for Students </li></ul> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES</p> <p>The Curriculum Specialist works cooperatively with the Elementary and Secondary Curriculum Specialists, Principals, Teachers and other staff members to ensure that the assigned program area is implemented as designed, coordinated across grades and schools within the district to maximize student achievement and operates with compliance to all local state and federal standards and mandates. The Curriculum Specialist monitors the progress of K-12 students, in the assigned program area, using local, state and national assessments and works cooperatively with Principals and Curriculum Specialists and Teachers to develop plans for improvement.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED</p> <p>Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent. Works cooperatively with the elementary and secondary administrators and curriculum leaders on matters of district-wide curriculum.</p> <p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED</p> <p>Supervises World Language and teachers who service Multilingual Learners as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.</p> <p>JOB GOAL</p> <p>The major goal of the Curriculum Specialist is to work cooperatively with the elementary and secondary administrators and curriculum leaders, and the Principals to promote high levels of student learning by implementing a well designed and coordinated K-12 World Language and MLL curriculum.</p> <p>EVALUATION</p> <p>Performance of this job is subject to annual review in accordance with the Brookfield Administrators Evaluation Plan.</p> <p>ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES *(list is not all inclusive)</p> <ul> <li>Meets with Curriculum Specialists, World Language and TESOL Teachers and Principals on a regular basis to plan for implementation of the K-12 curriculum and monitor student progress. </li><li>Assists World Language and TESOL Teachers as well as other staff who support students in developing long-range instructional plans for effective learning. </li><li>Coordinates the development and implementation of K-12 assessments in World Language as well as state assessments for identified Multilingual Learners Learners to evaluate student progress against performance standards and uses data to inform curriculum revision. </li><li>Coordinates the development of plans for program improvement based on analysis of student assessment data. </li><li>Consults with Principals in the development of building goals for student learning. </li><li>Assists Principals in the planning of staff development programs to improve student learning. </li><li>Coordinates in-service training on best instructional practices to support World Language and MLL programming. </li><li>Meets regularly with administrators and curriculum leaders, and the Assistant Superintendent in the coordination of the K-12 program. </li><li>Coordinates proposed and ongoing curriculum development and evaluation projects. </li><li>Keeps abreast of current trends in curriculum development, research and best practices. </li><li>Attends and participates in scheduled, district-wide curriculum meetings and other ad hoc meetings to ensure a high quality K-12 educational program in world language and MLL support. </li><li>Responsible for all state and federal reporting related to Multilingual Learners. </li><li>Supervises, coordinates and participates district administration of state mandated MLL assessment and serves as liaison between the district, the state and the testing company. </li><li>Responsible for ensuring appropriate identification of all Multilingual Learner sand providing required notifications to parents/guardians of students MLL status. </li><li>Coordinates and facilitates meetings with parents/guardians of Multilingual Learners throughout the year as directed by the Assistant Superintendent. </li><li>Serves as liaison and resource for coordinating translation services for parents/guardians as needed. </li><li>Coordinates district programming such as Lexia English for support of Multilingual Learners. </li><li>Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CAPABILITIES</p> <p>The Curriculum Specialist: K-12 World Language & Multilingual Learners has documented success in curriculum and program development for both world language instruction and supports for Multilingual Learners. Additionally, the Curriculum Specialist: K-12 World Language & English Language Learners has demonstrated success in providing direct instruction to MLL students, as well as in collaborating with educator colleagues in their support of LL's. This district level leader must have fluency with curriculum development, best instructional practices, assessment literacy and be highly collaborative with staff.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Masters Degree in Education. </li><li>Ideal candidate will possess a current CT SDE Certifications in Intermediate Administration and Supervision (092), TESOL (111) or World Language (101) or any CT 7-12 World Language endorsements. </li><li>Completed course work in human learning and development; curriculum design and data- driven instruction; program planning; instructional coaching; research; testing, measurement and statistics; language acquisition and linguistics, sheltered instruction; and culturally responsive instruction. </li><li>Has at least five years experience as a teacher including world language and working with Multilingual Learners. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to maintain effective interaction with all personnel; students, teachers, parents, administrators, support personnel and volunteers. </li><li>Possesses such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <p>Work year, salary and other benefits as established and contractually agreed to between the Brookfield Board of Education and the Brookfield Administrators' Association.</p> <p>Brookfield Public Schools is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment.
