<p>Department:</p> <p>Merchandising</p> <p>Title:</p> <p>Merchandising Assistant Buyer II</p> <p>Reports to:</p> <p>Varies</p> <p>FLSA Status:</p> <p>Exempt</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>New York/Hybrid</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Merchandising Assistant Buyer II is responsible for supporting the buying team in managing product assortments, inventory, and vendor relationships to drive sales and profitability within their assigned categories. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in merchandising and a desire to further develop their skills in a fast-paced retail environment. The Merchandising Assistant Buyer II will play a critical role in building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.</p> <p>DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in selecting and managing product assortments that align with the company's merchandising strategy and customer needs. </li><li>Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities for category expansion. </li><li>Monitor inventory levels and sales performance to ensure optimal stock levels and product availability. </li><li>Assist in forecasting demand and planning inventory replenishment to minimize stockouts and overstocks. </li><li>Support the buying team in maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers. </li><li>Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of products and resolve any issues related to shipments or quality. </li><li>Assist in placing and tracking purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing. </li><li>Collaborate with the supply chain team to manage product flow and address any logistical challenges. </li><li>Analyze sales data and performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations for merchandising strategies. </li><li>Prepare and present regular reports on category performance, trends, and inventory status. </li><li>Support the development and execution of promotional plans and in-store displays to drive sales and enhance customer engagement. </li><li>Monitor the effectiveness of promotional activities and provide feedback for future initiatives. </li><li>Assist with administrative tasks such as maintaining accurate records, updating product information, and managing documentation. </li><li>Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies and initiatives. </li><li>Performs other duties as may be assigned. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools. </li><li>Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail. </li><li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with vendors and team members. </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with merchandising software or ERP systems is a plus. </li><li>Excel and PowerPoint are a must. </li><li>SO strong skills needed. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field. </li><li>Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a merchandising or buying role, preferably within a major retail environment. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must frequently use their hands to handle or feel objects and must be able to speak and hear clearly. </li><li>The employee may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
