<ol> <li> <p>Performs room maintenance duties to include room turnover preparation and trouble shooting of equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs administrative and other duties as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares, cares and maintains medical equipment and instruments utilized in the endoscopy department.</p> </li><li> <p>Decontaminates/sterilizes equipment used in accordance with Infection Prevention policy and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists under the direction of the GI RN in the implementation of the established plan of care.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists under the direction of the GI RN before, during and after diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures. The procedures that the GI technician may perform under the supervision of the physician include but not limited to splinting patient's abdominal wall during colonoscopy, esophageal dilations, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, and electrocautery procedures to include argon plasma coagulation. Will assist with and participate in tissue acquisition during endoscopic procedures. This includes, but not limited to, the opening and closing of forceps, snares and other accessories under the direction and supervision of a physician.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides and maintains a safe environment for patient and staff by complying to regulatory agency requirements and standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for personal continuing education.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of practice issues related to the field of gastroenterology.</p> </li><li> <p>Compliance with ethical professional and legal standards inherent in pt care and professional conduct.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in quality management activities as directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates within the GI Team and other health care professionals to ensure quality and continuity of patient care.</p> </li></ol> <p>Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Falmouth Hospital's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.</p> <p>Job Code /Grade FHS7</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or GED equivalent. </li><li>Able to thrive in a fast paced stressful environment. </li><li>Reads, speaks and writes in English. </li><li>GI Endoscopic Experience. </li><li>Current experience in decontamination and disinfection of endoscopic equipment. </li><li>BLS required. </li><li>SGNA Associates Program successfully completed within 1 year - Upon completion incumbent will be moved to a grade FHS8 job code </li></ul>
