<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator for the position of Reading Specialist. A Masters degree preferred. </li><li>Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience in which the teaching of reading was an important responsibility </li><li>Knowledge of current research and best practices in the field of reading and writing </li></ul> <p>DETAILED DESCRIPTION</p> <ul> <li>Assess the reading strengths and needs of students, provide that information to parents and educational staff, and use the results to support the planning and implementation of an effective reading program for the students approved by the district office. </li><li>Plan and prepare the learning environment, setting up for lessons, preparing materials and supplies </li><li>To support, supplement, and extend classroom teaching to implement a quality reading program that meets the needs of students and work with teachers, support staff, and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of the reading program with the total curriculum </li><li>Report text reading progress monthly to Ferguson Florissant's Teaching and Learning Department and building principal. </li><li>Discuss student reading goals with the classroom teacher in order to coordinate instructional efforts. </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations. </li><li>Gather, compile, and disaggregate data; and link that data to student learning and instruction. </li><li>Differentiate instruction based on assessment data. </li><li>Document interventions and progress on each child. </li><li>Treat all students with dignity and respect. </li><li>Maintain good attendance. </li></ul> <p>Competitive salary based on experience and education level</p> <p>Complete an online application at www.fergflor.org.
