<p>Position Summary Department: Arnold Palmer Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy program. Status: Full Time Title: Advanced Practice Provider, Pediatrics Bone Marrow Transplant Position Summary This Advanced Practice Provider position is for the Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy program. In conjunction with their attending physician and program director, the APP will provide collaborative care including history taking, physical assessment, and laboratory/diagnostic test review to establish diagnoses and develop appropriate treatment plans for acute and chronic health problems related to bone marrow transplant patients. This includes management of potential acute care complications related to their treatment. Clinical responsibilities include both inpatient and outpatient management of the BMT patient population as well as coordination of care and program development. The ideal candidate will have APP experience with the Pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT population, although those with prior APP experience or prior Hem/Onc/BMT clinical experience may be considered. We treat children from the ages of newborn to early 20s who require stem cell therapy for the treatment of pediatric cancers, non-malignant blood disorders, and immunodeficiencies. Clinical responsibilities include: · Inpatient and outpatient assessment and evaluation of patients · Assist with new patient consults, admissions, and other required inpatient job duties · Acute care management of complications related to BMT treatment · Assist with the development and preparation of patient care plans · Management of inpatient order and outpatient prescriptions including chemotherapy and infusions · Assist in the coordination of home care needs and patient/family education · Assist in the coordination of and participate in procedures such as lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirations and biopsies, and bone marrow harvests · Communication and collaboration with consulting and multidisciplinary services · Participation in quality improvement initiatives and department research is also strongly encouraged · Continued program development and improvement Full time and fully benefits-eligible, the APP schedule will include weekdays, weekends, some holidays, and potential call. Responsibilities Job Competencies: Understands Indications for allogeneic and autologous HPC transplantation Involved in: · Selection of suitable recipients and appropriate preparative regimens · Donor selection, evaluation, and management · Donor and recipient informed consent Administers: preparative regimens, growth factors and cellular therapy as needed Manages: · Complications related to the administration of cellular therapy products · Neutropenic fever, Thrombocytopenia and bleeding, hemorrhagic cystitis · Blood transfusion to include the use of CMV and irradiated blood product · Patients receiving ABO-incompatible HPC products Diagnosis and Management of: · Pulmonary complications, fungal disease, sinusoidal obstruction syndrome and other causes of hepatic dysfunction, dermatologic complications, HPC graft failure · Acute and chronic Graft vs. Host Disease (GvHD) Monitoring and Management of: · Mucositis, gastrointestinal complications, pain · Neurologic toxicity, Cardiac dysfunction, Renal dysfunction, Anaphylaxis, Cytokine release syndrome · Infectious processes related to immunodeficiencies and opportunistic infections · Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) and macrophage activation syndrome/hemophagocytic lymph-histiocytosis (MAS/HLH) Evaluates: · Late effects of cellular therapy, post-transplant, and other cellular therapy outcomes Documentation and Reporting: · Patients on investigational protocols, Adverse events according to Applicable Law Familiar with: · Palliative and end of life care · Age-specific donor and recipient care Methodology and implications of: HLA Typing and testing for chimerism Qualifications Education Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
