<p>The Associate Medical Director functions independently to provide primary medical services and ambulatory care to adult patients of CHC. In addition, he/she works collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer in the development and execution of the general adult and geriatric program at the Health Center, medical programs in the community, and such quality assurance, research, and administrative tasks as are deemed relevant by the Chief Medical Officer.</p> <p>The Associate Medical Director helps enhance access, quality, safety, workflows, and team-based care, and supports clinical program development that advances Caring Health Center's mission to serve a diverse and underserved community.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Unrestricted Massachusetts medical license or the ability to obtain one prior to the start date. </li><li>Doctor of Medicine MD or DO. </li><li>Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine, Internal Medicine/Pediatric, or Family Medicine </li><li>Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is required. </li><li>Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances registrations or the ability to obtain them prior to the start date. </li><li>Demonstrated experience providing high-quality care in a high-volume, multicultural environment. </li><li>Eligibility for and maintenance of hospital privileges at local partner hospitals. </li><li>Eligibility as a provider for major insurers. </li><li>Experience or strong interest in clinical leadership, quality improvement, and team-based primary care. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in or with an FQHC, community health care setting, underserved populations, population health, accountable care organizations, value-based care, or integrated care models. </li><li>Experience supervising or mentoring clinicians such as NPs, PAs, or physicians. </li><li>Advanced degrees, such as an MPH, or relevant experience, are desirable. </li><li>Qualification as a Civil Surgeon or interest in serving as one. </li></ul> <p>Principal Responsibilities and Duties</p> <p>Clinical Care:</p> <ul> <li>Provide exemplary direct patient care within training and scope of practice, and be part of the on-call schedule as required. </li><li>Assess, diagnose, manage, and document clinical conditions using evidence-based guidelines. </li><li>Deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate care using interpretation services when needed. </li><li>Coordinate care across specialists, departments, and community partners. </li><li>Ensure timely follow-up, communication, and continuity through the EMR and team-based care systems. </li></ul> <p>Clinical Leadership and Practice Oversight:</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct oversight, coaching, and support to primary care clinicians. </li><li>Collaborate with the CMO on clinical standards, workflows, policies, and operational practices. </li><li>Support clinician onboarding, training, orientation, and performance development. </li><li>Lead or assist the CMO in leading provider meetings, case reviews, and workflow improvement sessions. </li><li>Conduct regular provider chart reviews and provide performance feedback in areas such as billing and coding compliance, quality, safety, and documentation standards. </li><li>Work collaboratively to strengthen productivity, quality performance, documentation quality, and patient experience. </li><li>Partner with practice managers and nursing leadership to optimize team-based workflows, productivity, access, and panel management. </li><li>Assist with resolving issues related to scheduling, access, workflow, and performance. </li><li>Support integration of behavioral health, chronic disease programming, care management, and ancillary services. </li><li>Ensure, with the CMO and other staff, that all clinicians remain fully credentialed and compliant with licensure, CEU, and regulatory requirements. </li></ul> <p>Quality, Safety, and Compliance:</p> <ul> <li>Partner with the CMO and quality team to achieve organizational quality goals. </li><li>Participate in the design and implementation of quality improvement initiatives. </li><li>Ensure provider adherence to documentation standards, billing accuracy, and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. </li><li>Support improvement in access, referral processing, no-show reduction, chronic disease management, and clinical workflows. </li></ul> <p>Education, Training, and Community Engagement:</p> <ul> <li>Provide clinical teaching and mentorship for NPs, PAs, students, and trainees, including being the liaison between CHC and schools and universities. </li><li>Assist in developing standardized evaluation tools, training modules, and pre-op or specialty evaluation protocols. </li><li>Represent the Health Center in community activities, collaborative initiatives, and professional organizations. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the CMO in developing clinical policies, care pathways, operational initiatives, and strategic priorities. </li><li>Participate in hiring, evaluation, and support of clinical staff. </li><li>Assist with managing provider schedules, staffing models, and call coverage. </li><li>Provide clinical leadership coverage in the CMO's absence. </li><li>Support EMR optimization, documentation improvement, and productivity enhancement. </li></ul> <p>Communication and Interpersonal Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate professionalism and sensitivity in all communication with patients, families, and staff. </li><li>Maintain patient privacy and uphold dignity in all interactions. </li><li>Use tact, empathy, and cultural humility in addressing concerns and conflicts. </li><li>Communicate clearly and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. </li></ul> <p>Problem Resolution:</p> <ul> <li>Exercise sound judgment in addressing clinical and operational issues. </li><li>Anticipate emerging problems and participate proactively in solutions. </li><li>Work independently and collaboratively to resolve issues affecting patient care and clinic operations. </li></ul> <p>Career Development:</p> <ul> <li>Participate actively in staff meetings, leadership meetings, and ongoing training. </li><li>Maintain clinical competence through ongoing CME and professional development. </li><li>Maintain privileges at local hospitals (Baystate, Mercy) and fulfill associated requirements. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in the provider on-call schedule as required. </li><li>Potential exposure to patient blood and body fluids. </li><li>Frequent use of EMR and computer-based systems. </li></ul> <p>Salary Range: $250,000- $290,000</p>
