<p>Description of Job Duty:</p> <p>Tennessee Tech department of Exercise Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science to begin August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct an active program of scholarly research, and provide service to the department, college, university, and the broader profession. Applicants must demonstrate documented success in teaching, a record of scholarly activity, and evidence of service contributions.</p> <p>Tennessee Tech is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science, sport performance, or related areas in both face-to-face and online formats. </li><li>Maintain an active research agenda that contributes to the field of exercise science and results in peer-reviewed publications and presentations. </li><li>Provide service to the department, college, university, and professional organizations. </li><li>Mentor and advise students, including supervision of undergraduate and graduate research projects. </li><li>Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and program improvement initiatives. </li><li>Actively engage in professional collaborations and community partnerships. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Those typical of any classroom-type environment or office environment.</p> <p>Special Instructions:</p> <p>Applicants will be required to electronically upload a letter of application that addresses the required qualifications and duties, curriculum vitae (with pertinent experience), teaching philosophy, copies of graduate transcripts (official transcripts for all degrees conferred required upon hire), and email contact information for three references who will be contacted via email to provide a reference letter if selected for interview. Applications without all required materials are considered incomplete and will not be considered.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2026.</p> <p>Benefits Information:</p> <p>The University offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the accumulation of one (1) sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Earned doctorate in Exercise Science, Sport Performance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution (completed by the time of appointment). </li><li>Documented minimum of three years of full-time university-level teaching experience. </li><li>Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. </li><li>Record of scholarly work (publications, presentations, or equivalent). </li><li>Experience teaching in online or hybrid formats. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Documented experience managing an Exercise Physiology or Sport Performance laboratory and providing high-quality laboratory experiences for students. </li><li>Demonstrated success in teaching and managing undergraduate and graduate courses in D2L or other current online delivery platforms. </li><li>Experience with course design, curriculum development, and program assessment. </li><li>Evidence of grant procurement and/or sponsored research activity. </li><li>Experience with strategic planning, accreditation processes, and program partnership development. </li><li>Interest or experience in integrating artificial intelligence and emerging technologies into teaching or research. </li></ul>
