Headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, the Spire network spans the Northeast with more than 165 physicians, 1,800 employees, 285 other clinical providers and 40 locations in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.</p> <p>What you'll do:</p> <p>Responsibilities/Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinate physician requested surgeries for patient with hospital and/or surgical center.</p> </li><li> <p>Verify patient's insurance and referrals are on file and valid.</p> </li><li> <p>Verify patient's health status to ensure all clearances are obtained.</p> </li><li> <p>Discuss scheduling process with patient and confirm booking date with patient and facility.</p> </li><li> <p>Order necessary equipment for procedure.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule pre-op testing for patients if necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Send informational packets to patients prior to surgery.</p> </li><li> <p>If workers compensation; patient verifies with adjustor, complete U/R request and await approval and or comp department negotiation prior to scheduling surgery.</p> </li><li> <p>Once surgery date is scheduled and confirmed, patient post-op visits are scheduled and H&P if necessary, according to established protocols.</p> </li><li> <p>Contacting / interacting with appropriate facilities, such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities, etc. regarding patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain appointment computer scheduling is in accordance with office scheduling policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Enter detailed messages from patients, hospitals, pharmacies, etc. into the EMR system.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with patients to assist with questions in accordance with established protocol, ensuring patients understand the surgical process and their responsibilities as the patient.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow up on surgical cancellations, insurance changes, reschedules, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of insurance policies and procedures for prior authorizations, staying up to date with insurance regarding any changes.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide additional support for other schedulers as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform various computer functions supporting specific responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend required meetings/in-services and participate in committees.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in educational and professional development activities consistent with business needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain strictest confidentiality of medical/company information.</p> </li><li> <p>Be knowledgeable and follow all HIPAA Regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other related work as required.</p> </li></ul>
