<p>Position Information</p> <p>Job Title Academic Support Coordinator Department LEVL - Teaching & Learning Center Employment Status FT Full-Time Full Time/Part Time Full Time Benefits Yes Months per Year 12 months Job Description</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>The development and coordination of all tutoring activities on all SPC campuses including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising tutors/learning assistants (SI leaders), excluding writing tutors.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Include the following, but other duties may be assigned:</p> <p>Recruit tutors and submit tutor recommendations to the Teaching and Learning Center</p> <p>Supervise Tutors/Learning Assistants (SI Leaders) on a daily basis</p> <p>Develop a tutor training manual based on CAS/CRLA standards</p> <p>Achieve nationally recognized certification of the tutor program</p> <p>Train the Tutors/Learning Assistants (SI Leaders)</p> <p>Investigate/research and recommend innovative delivery systems for services (including developing, piloting, data collection and reporting of tutoring/SI in high-risk courses/programs)</p> <p>Supervise the use of BrainFuse as an online tutoring service</p> <p>Supervise the use of Penji as an online appointment scheduling tool</p> <p>Develop and coordinate tutoring schedules</p> <p>Collect data and prepare reports of measures of effectiveness of tutoring with recommendations for improvement</p> <p>Develop/design and monitor an online presence regarding tutoring services at all locations</p> <p>Obtain, organize, and develop course materials, such as promotional materials, handouts and online resources/materials</p> <p>Observe tutors on duty to evaluate performance and to recommend changes that could strengthen tutoring skills</p> <p>Maintain employment records for student staff and supervising online timesheet submissions</p> <p>Communicate on a regular and routine basis (to include onsite visits) with time keepers, deans, faculty and staff at all locations</p> <p>Present to faculty, staff, students and community partners program objectives to elicit support</p> <p>Plan recognition programs/ceremonies to honor tutor achievements</p> <p>Prepare proposals, budgets, and contributing to Teaching and Learning Center program policies and goals and/or assisting in their preparation</p> <p>Conduct and/or participate in workshops, committees, and conferences designed to promote the intellectual, social, and physical well-being of students</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Supervision of Tutors/Learning Assistants (SI Leaders).</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to effectively present information to, and respond to questions from, groups of faculty, students, and others.</p> <p>MATHEMATICAL SKILLS</p> <p>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to understand, prepare and utilize budgets and related reports.</p> <p>REASONING ABILITY</p> <p>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</p> <p>TRAVEL</p> <p>Must be able to operate a motor vehicle, utilize air transportation, and make shorts trips within the Lubbock area.
