<p>Position Information</p> <p>TheDepartment of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division, is hiring for aPower Generator/Mechanical Repairer in Honolulu.</p> <p>Under the general direction and supervision of the Lead Mechanical Repairer, this position:</p> <ul> <li>Operates and performs maintenance, inspections, repairs and diagnoses of power support systems ranging in capacities from 5 kilowatt to 1 megawatt electrical power generators; </li><li>Participates in the repair, overhaul, testing and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical equipment and related items such as roll-up doors, mechanical doors, jail cell doors, fuel dispensing pumps, pumps, sump pumps, compressors, electric motors, concrete mixers, groundskeeping and custodial equipment and other small construction and maintenance equipment for all facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department of Facility Maintenance. </li><li>Applies applicable safety practices, rules and procedures and perform all duties in a safe and acceptable manner. </li></ul> <p>Special Working Conditions: This position is required to have unescorted access to the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment related to a traffic management center requires a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check prior to assignment to this position authorized by HRS 846-2.7 (b)(37) and in accordance with JTMC Policy No. 2016-B.06, Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and CHRC Clearance. The experience and training must have included one year of work in the repair, maintenance and overhaul of a variety of engine-driven generators, including electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components and appurtenant equipment.</p> <p>LICENSE REQUIREMENT:</p> <p>Valid Hawaii driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.</p> <p>Examination Process</p> <p>TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:</p> <p>In addition to meeting the above minimum qualifications, your application will be further evaluated. Your score will be based on the quality and quantity of your education, experience and/or other related job requirements and competencies applicable to the position. Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment within the JTMC requires a fingerprint-based criminal history record check. Therefore, the selectee will be required to be fingerprinted as part of their employment suitability review. The Department of Human Resources will review fingerprint-based state and national criminal history record information from the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.</p>
