<p>Summary: The Chief of Dental is responsible for the development and implementation of clinical and administrative processes within the dental department that enhance clinical quality, safety, access, patient experience, and team-based care. The Chief will champion the mission and vision of the health center to promote a highly motivated and engaged provider group and ensure smooth functioning of the department.</p> <p>SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)</p> <ul> <li>Provides clinical direction and leadership to the Dental Department. Drives program, processes, and quality improvements to elevate the entire service line and the care it provides. Aligns resources towards achievement of results. </li><li>Oversees and collaborates with the Dental Practice Manager on the overall function of the Dental Department. </li><li>Provides dental care consistent with the scope of duties and responsibilities for which the dentist has been privileged by the Health Center Board of Directors. </li><li>Has the overall responsibility for quality assurance activities, protocols, and policies within the Dental Department. </li><li>Works closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to optimize clinical quality in the dental department, including organizing and prioritizing quality measures, communicating performance expectations, monitoring performance, and leading efforts to improve. </li><li>Participates in manager meetings/trainings, staff meetings, quality assurance programs, case conferences and all meetings as required. </li><li>Implements and maintains documentation of quality assurance activities in the department. </li><li>Monitors productivity standards, communicates expectations to the department, and implements plans for improvement. </li><li>Collaborates with Chief Operating Officer and Infection Control Nurse on Sterilization process. </li><li>Implements infection control protocols according to the CDC/OSHA guidelines and developed by SWCHC. </li><li>Reviews and updates all dental Infection Control Protocols; attends and participates in all SWCHC Infection Control Committee meetings. </li><li>Serves as a consultant to entire Dental Department. </li><li>Provides clinical supervision for all on-site and off-site dental related programs sponsored by SWCHC. </li><li>Responsible for the dental activities cited in all grants and responsible for the data to support those activities when needed. </li><li>Develops short- and long-term goals with Dental team to ensure quality of care. </li><li>Devotes 0.1 FTE to administrative responsibilities and 0.9 FTE to treating patients in a clinical setting. </li><li>Ensures proper maintenance of the Dental equipment and stays informed of new technologies. </li><li>Collaborates with Financial Department on matters of reimbursement. </li><li>Performs and documents Peer Review/Chart Audits for compliance with clinical outcome measures. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and President/CEO. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5 years of clinical experience. </li><li>Current, valid, and unrestricted Connecticut Dental License, DEA and CSP. </li><li>Demonstrated supervisory/management skills, including clear and motivating communication, accountability around outcomes and collaboration, and dedication to continued growth of supervisory skills </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate from an American Dental Association (ADA) approved dental school with DDS or DMD degree. </li><li>Sufficient experience and skill to adequately manage and operate a busy dental practice. </li></ul>
