<p>Description</p> <p>Primary Job Function:</p> <p>Support new vehicle development and ongoing series production. Develop/utilize manufacturing systems for series production. Establish and maintain production system performance requirements. Develop process improvements to, and provide day to day support of, plant production tooling and equipment. Support VA/VE, DFM/DFA and related activities to facilitate design alternatives that improve product manufacturing feasibility, efficiency and effectiveness. Represent manufacturing in cross functional teams to develop, launch and support series production.</p> <p>Principal Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Implement mandatory process standards on plant level </li><li>Release gluing and PU processes based on PEP process procedure, plant level </li><li>Implement standard PU cell layouts (including layout change),with relevant departments </li><li>Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed </li><li>Analyze customer forecast trends and line utilization, balance line capacity utilization </li><li>Ensure defined rework and scrap level </li><li>Study production and machine requirements and upgrade systems with new technology </li><li>Develop and test effective automated and manual systems and design and install equipment </li><li>Define work instructions, routings and define or determine standard time </li><li>Work out specification, support purchasing process for equipment from technical site </li><li>Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance </li><li>Integrate disparate systems (e.g. equipment handling, transport) </li><li>Participate in Plant Daily Action and lead Daily Action of ME team </li><li>Contribute in the regional standardization </li><li>Prepare & submit annual Lessons Learned & best practice </li><li>Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations </li><li>Participate in project meetings to represent plant / ME </li><li>Set up project reports as required by ONE PEP </li><li>Act as interface to line suppliers, prepare tech. spec. for supplier selection </li><li>Deep understanding of global GME&GPE standards </li><li>Plan and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs and maximize quality </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <p>Must Have Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree within an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing pref.) </li><li>3-5 years relevant experience as a manufacturing engineer in an automotive/manufacturing environment (Injection molded plastics, compression molding etc.) </li><li>Strong understanding of core engineering principles: GD&T, PFMEAS, APQP, PPAP </li><li>Strong problem solving skills - 8D / 5Y / Fishbone Methods </li><li>Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design </li><li>Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques </li></ul> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Novi, MI.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
