Kellogg School - Falls Village, CT</p> <p>The Lee H. Kellogg School is seeking a Long-Term / Interim Science Teacher for grades K-8. This is an extended assignment beginning on or around February 2, 2025, and continuing through the end of the 2025-2026 school year. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based science instruction while supporting student growth in academic and social-emotional skills.</p> <p>Learning is active. At Kellogg, we know we can!</p> <p>Position Purpose:</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Science Teacher will facilitate student success by implementing district-approved curriculum, delivering instruction aligned to NGSS standards, differentiating to meet individual student needs, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree required (Master's preferred) </li><li>Must hold or be eligible for a valid Connecticut Teaching Certification (elementary and/or science preferred) </li><li>Experience or coursework in science content strongly preferred </li><li>Knowledge of Common Core, NGSS, inquiry-based learning, and differentiation </li><li>Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills </li><li>Proficiency with instructional technology </li><li>Ability to maintain confidential information </li><li>Must pass federal and local background checks </li><li>Reliable transportation required </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs </li></ul> <p>Candidates eligible for DSAP or other interim pathways are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver engaging K-8 science instruction and content-area literacy to support scientific thinking </li><li>Implement required support plans (IEPs, 504s, intervention plans, etc.) </li><li>Foster a student-centered, inquiry-based classroom environment </li><li>Integrate and model social-emotional learning and self-advocacy skills </li><li>Assess student performance and use data to guide instruction </li><li>Participate in MTSS, data, team, staff, attendance, and climate meetings </li><li>Communicate proactively with families regarding student progress and classroom learning </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure continuity of instruction </li><li>Attend professional learning aligned with district initiatives </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the school or district </li></ul> <p>Compensation:</p> <ul> <li>Day 1-6: $135 per day </li><li>Day 7-59: $183 per day </li><li>Days 60-179: Step 1 BA or recommendation from the Superintendent (BA and 12-semester hrs of credit in the content area OR 2 yrs experience as a paraeducator, must submit ED175 to the State, OR DSAP, OR Extension of substitute teacher authorization) </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must pass federal and local background checks. </li><li>Must have reliable transportation. </li><li>Must complete all pre-employment requirements before the start date. </li><li>Must be able to lift 50 pounds. </li></ul> <p>Application/Interview Procedure:</p> <ul> <li>Apply online; click JobID: 1658 </li><li>Applicants will be screened on an ongoing basis; early applications are encouraged. </li><li>Interviews with a possible second interview and sample lesson. </li></ul> <p>For more information, please contact Principal Dr. Andrew Deacon at deacon@kelloggschool.org.</p> <p>It is the policy of the Region One School District that no person shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or otherwise discriminated against under any program, including employment, because of race, color, religious creed, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation and past/present history of mental disorder, learning disability, and physical disability.
