<p>The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center, whose primary duty station is at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center, may also work in various settings including outpatient, inpatient acute care, or the Community Living Center (CLC) for short-term rehabilitation or long-term care.</p> <p>The Physical Therapist Assistant's (PTA) primary function is direct patient care. Treatment duties include a variety of interventions and treatment techniques, documentation as well as patient/family education. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Physical Therapy Supervisor. Clinical supervision is provided by the supervising Physical Therapists (PT). The PTA will embrace evidenced based practice standards. The licensed PTA collaborates across the continuum of care. They ensure services are coordinated and consumer centered.</p> <p>VA Careers - Physical Therapy: https://youtube.com/embed/Gi2hoFqIoqY</p> <p>This individual must have knowledge of skills and ability to interact with and provide treatment to patients from young adulthood through geriatric age and be able to fulfill their age specific needs. The population served includes adults and geriatric patients with physical, cognitive, psychiatric disabilities.</p> <p>The PTA provides treatment that promotes the prevention, remediation and rehabilitation of acute and chronic physical and psychosocial dysfunction. The PTA administers and monitors therapeutic interventions based on goals formulated by the Physical Therapist (PT). The PTA participates with the PT in planning and implementing complex treatment programs and applies physical therapy procedures to patients under the direct supervision of a PT. The PTA also conducts educational programs to support the needs of patients. The PTA can provide and supervise clinical training experiences for PTA students.</p> <p>The above full performance level Physical Therapy Assistant demonstrates competency in completion of higher-level duties. Advanced practice skills are used to treat patients with a significant scope of complexity at least 25% of the time. They possess advanced practice skills and experience with a wide range of patient complexity. They apply advanced methodologies to a vast array of functional impairments and patients.
