The Sensing Hardware Team is responsible for architecting, designing, validating, and integrating state-of-the-art sensing technologies for vehicle autonomy. The sensors we develop play critical roles in self-driving, in-cabin safety monitoring, user interaction, HVAC control, environmental sensing, and more. As a Sensor Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the sensing system and its features at any point in the product life cycle; serve as the owner of a given sensing system to address any issues discovered from development through deployment; understand and debug hardware and software interactions from prototyping through product launch; and manage priorities and support a host of projects simultaneously.

Specification generation: distill sensor product requirements into constraints and actionable engineering systems design discussions

Collaboration: lead cross-functional sensor design discussions with electrical, software, supply chain, manufacturing, thermal, and mechanical teams

Architecture definition: translate sensor design discussions into design documents in the form of system block diagrams, functional and performance requirements

Schematic design: use EDA tools to define the electrical components and their connectivity

PCB Layout: supervise the generation of board design files through all design phases

BOM definition: work with the supply chain team to ensure components will meet performance, cost & manufacturing requirements

Prototyping: support early sensor prototype development to de-risk new technologies

Validation: generate and execute the test plan that includes milestones that focus on de-risking product and/or feature deployment and align with the program timeline

Qualification: ensure the hardware meets required design criteria across a host of environments and regulations while collaborating with the reliability, test and homologation teams

Production: work with manufacturing/test teams and suppliers to achieve high-volume mass production with high yield

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience

Fundamental knowledge of circuit design, analog analysis, sensor physics, and statistics

Strong electrical engineering background in board-level analog and mixed-signal design

Hands-on experience in system-level design, architecture, characterization and validation

Proven cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills

Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools

Proficiency in data visualization and statistical analysis

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience in high-volume mass production

Experience in working with suppliers and contract manufacturers
