<p>POSITION TITLE: 1.0 FTE Literacy Specialist (2025-2026 school year)</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>Reports to: K-5 Literacy Department Head & Building Principal</p> <p>Terms of Employment: To cover a leave of absence for the 2025-2026 school year.</p> <p>184 day work year. Benefits and salary in accordance with the LEA Unit A collective bargaining agreement. K-5 Department, current location is at Hastings Elementary.</p> <p>August 25, 2025 start date. Unit A 25-26 Salary Range</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>The literacy specialist facilitates the Lexington elementary literacy program. This includes providing literacy interventions, coaching and collaborating with teachers, planning and facilitating professional development, and collaborating with department colleagues.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Provide research-based, direct instruction in small intervention groups to at-risk students. </li><li>Work collaboratively with the school-wide team on the appropriate use of data in making educational decisions. </li><li>Facilitate the coordination of school-wide and individual student progress monitoring data. </li><li>Facilitate and/ or provide professional learning experiences for teachers. </li><li>Collaborate with building administration and teacher teams to review student data </li></ul> <p>OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Exhibit dependability and punctuality in assigned duties. </li><li>Strive to improve professional competence. </li><li>Display appropriate personal and professional traits that exhibit a positive role model for students. </li><li>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. </li><li>Strive to achieve the objectives and expectations of the Teacher Performance Evaluation Plan. </li><li>Maintain a caseload of students receiving instructional interventions as determined by building administration. </li><li>Attend Intervention Specialist meetings and share pertinent information with building administration and teams. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Appropriate MA DESE licensure in Reading, all grade levels </li><li>Master's degree in Specialist teacher of Reading, Language and Literacy, English Language Arts Curriculum, and/or English as a Second Language, preferred. </li><li>Leadership and organizational qualities that include the ability to facilitate teams, communicate collaboratively, coach, train and lead others, and coordinate data. </li><li>Working knowledge and understanding of the Response to Intervention (RtI) process, at-risk supports, and literacy development. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
