<p>This mission of the Colorado Energy Office (CEO) is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and consumer energy costs by advancing clean energy, energy efficiency and zero emission vehicles to benefit all Coloradans. </p> <p>Reducing greenhouse gas pollution and advancing zero emission vehicles, energy efficiency and clean energy are essential to preserving and protecting Colorado's way of life. Hybrid positions are expected to be present at the office location for no less than one day per work week. </li></ul> <p>The Accountant II position processes financial transactions and maintains a complete and accurate record of processed transactions. This includes the monthly reconciliation, preparation and processing of payroll transactions. These payroll transactions will reconcile payroll between budgeted amounts and actual spend in the State of Colorado Operations and Resource Engine (CORE). Other financial transactions include reconciliation, preparation and processing of office credit card payments, accounts payable transactions and interagency payments when necessary. This position completes and codes journal entries for payroll reconciliations and other payables corrections; processes lost warrant affidavits, warrant reissues, warrant cancellations; posts transactions to assigned journal ledger accounts, and enters them into CORE and/or other sub-systems.</p> <p>Based on the guidance and direction provided by the Accounting Manager, this position also works on monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end close and opening activities. This position will be involved in assisting the Accounting Manager in the review and reconciliation of month end diagnostics and abnormal balances and other activities including but not limited to transactions heavily involving payroll expenditures.</p> <p>This announcement is open only to eligible individuals within the Colorado Energy Office. Only applications from the Colorado Energy Office will be accepted.</p> <p>Specific Duties & Responsibilities: </p> <p>Accounting</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prepare monthly payroll transactions to reconcile budgeted payroll expenses to actual spend: Budget to GL reconciliation.</p> </li><li> <p>Compile office credit card transactions into pdf files for each cardholder;</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct pre-audit review and process US Bank receipts and invoices in accounting system;</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and process credit card payments in CORE;</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare accounts payable transactions, coding and processing, payment vouchers, manual disbursements, and journal entries; </p> </li><li> <p>Complete pre-audit reviews for payment vouchers as required by State Fiscal Rules by reviewing source documents for proper authorization, accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and fiscal rules;</p> </li><li> <p>Initiate and coordinate inter-agency transactions; wire transfers and other transfers of funds;</p> </li><li> <p>Process transactions related to State warrants including lost warrant affidavits, warrant reissues, cancellations and related journal vouchers;</p> </li><li> <p>Process CR documents for cash transactions such as checks and ach deposits into State bank account;</p> </li><li> <p>Assist accounting team with Salesforce training and assisting fellow staff;</p> </li><li> <p>Assist Accounting team with Vendor setups in CORE;</p> </li><li> <p>At the guidance, direction, and oversight of the Accounting Manager, perform the following tasks where appropriate in order to acquire additional skills that can be used towards future advancement:</p> </li><li> <p>Monthly, quarterly and fiscal year-end close and opening activities</p> </li><li> <p>Set up of journal entries and accounts payable </p> </li><li> <p>Maintenance of CEO chart of accounts</p> </li><li> <p>Review payments</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with month end close diagnostics</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with daily and monthly abnormal balances</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with federal cash draws</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimium Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A minimum of two years technical accounting experience required</p> </li><li> <p>Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and highly detail-oriented;</p> </li><li> <p>High level of initiative and ability to work well in both an independent and team environment; </p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work in stressful and high pressure situations; </p> </li><li> <p>Strong time management and organization skills;</p> </li><li> <p>Strong written and oral communication skills;</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrable personal integrity, confidence, diplomacy and flexibility; </p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in Excel is essential</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Governmental accounting experience preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Associated degree preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Colorado Operations Resource Engine (CORE) experience is preferred:</p> </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>A cover letter and resume must be submitted with the application for consideration.
