Your best is waiting to be discovered.</p> <p>Day - 10 Hour (United States of America)</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>Stanford Health Care is seeking a highly skilled and flexible Advanced Practice Provider (APP)-Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with RNFA certification-to join our expanding Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team in the East Bay. This position supports a single plastic surgeon with a primary focus on breast reconstruction and microsurgical flap procedures, serving patients across multiple East Bay locations in Pleasanton, Oakland, and Emeryville.</p> <p>Practice Details:</p> <ul> <li>Primary surgical focus: Breast reconstruction and free flap cases </li><li>APP will first-assist in surgery and round inpatient </li><li>APP will see 12-16 patients per clinic day, including pre- and post-op visits as well as clinic-based procedures </li><li>Clinic and OR support provided by RN and MA staff </li><li>Collaborative team culture with one other APP already in role </li><li>No residents or fellows - APPs play a key role in all aspects of care: in the OR and clinical care </li></ul> <p>Schedule & Expectations:</p> <ul> <li>Schedule primarily driven by OR block time; relatively stable but does require flexibility within the day </li><li>Possible to work at multiple sites in one day; schedule provided weeks in advance </li><li>High degree of autonomy once trained; supportive, collaborative environment </li><li>This is a new and evolving program-ideal for someone who thrives in start-up clinical models </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>PA-C or NP (RNFA certification required for NPs) </li><li>Minimum 1 year of first-assist experience, ideally in plastic surgery or a similar surgical specialty </li><li>Strong preference for candidates with breast or reconstructive surgical experience </li><li>Comfortable with a dynamic, evolving practice model and adapting to frequent changes in location and schedule </li><li>Team-oriented, self-directed, and highly collaborative </li></ul> <p>Why Stanford Health Care - East Bay?</p> <p>Opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge reconstructive surgery program</p> <p>Work with a highly respected surgical team in a patient-centered environment</p> <p>Professional respect and autonomy for APPs</p> <p>Help shape a new care delivery model with strong institutional support</p> <p>This is a Stanford Health Care job.</p> <p>A Brief Overview</p> <p>The Physician Assistant (PA) functions under this Physician Assistant Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Specific functions pertaining to the Service, Clinic or Department are established by the PA and his/her supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, the Credentials & Privileges Committee, the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Committee and the SHC Board Credentials, Policies and Procedures Committee.</p> <p>Locations</p> <p>Stanford Health Care</p> <p>What you will do</p> <ul> <li>Evaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty. </li><li>Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients. </li><li>Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient. </li><li>Administers medications according to the formulary protocol or upon patient-specific approval from the supervising physician, or transmits orally or in writing on a patient's record, a prescription from the supervising physician to a person who may furnish such medication. All controlled substances in Schedules II-V inclusive require a patient-specific approval by a supervising physician in advance of transmittal of the order or administration of the medication [see Standardized Procedure: Administering, Ordering, Furnishing or Prescribing of Drugs; Formulary Protocol]. </li><li>Orders and collects specimens for routine laboratory tests, screening procedures and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products. </li><li>Orders physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations and nursing services. </li><li>Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency, according to written standardized procedures where applicable. </li><li>Obtains informed consent, as indicated. </li><li>Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork. </li><li>As directed by the supervising physician, enrolls patients in investigational studies approved by the Investigational Review Board (IRB), and orders the necessary tests and medications. [see Standardized Procedure: Administering, Ordering, Furnishing or Prescribing of Drugs; Formulary Protocol] Medications that are not FDA-approved or are used for a non-FDA- approved indication (off-label use) require a patient-specific order in advance from the supervising physician. </li><li>After appropriate training, assists the supervising physician in the operating room (OR). </li><li>Acts as first or second assistant under the supervision of an approved supervising physician. </li><li>Performs surgical procedures in the personal presence of the supervising physician. </li><li>Recognizes and considers age-specific needs of patients. </li><li>Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds. </li><li>Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary. </li><li>Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed. </li><li>Facilitates collaboration between providers and coordination of community resources. </li><li>Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory and clinical policies and procedures. </li><li>Participates in quality improvement initiatives. </li><li>Provides and coordinates patient teaching and counseling. </li></ul> <p>Education Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <ol> <li>Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college or university. </li></ol> </li><li>Note: PAs hired prior to July 1, 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement - Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. </li></ul> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>PA - Physician Assistant State Licensure and </li><li>BLS - Basic Life Support and </li><li>DEA - Drug Enforcement Administration </li></ul> <p>These principles apply to ALL employees:</p> <p>SHC Commitment to Providing an Exceptional Patient & Family Experience</p> <p>Stanford Health Care sets a high standard for delivering value and an exceptional experience for our patients and families.
