<p>Job Title: Safety Manager</p> <p>LOCAL CANDIDATES: CHICAGO ONLY, NO PER DIEM</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to join our team on a high-profile construction project. This role requires an individual with a strong commitment to safety and exceptional communication skills, who can efficiently manage safety protocols and collaborate with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a culture of safety awareness.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Implement the project's safety guidelines, site-specific safety plan, and any client-specific safety requirements. </li><li>Coordinate with the regional safety lead to ensure the availability of necessary safety signage and personal protective equipment (PPE). </li><li>Confirm that all personnel scheduled to work on-site have completed the required safety orientation training. </li><li>Gather and organize documentation from subcontractors and trade partners, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), High-Risk Activity Plans, and Heat Illness Prevention Plans. </li><li>Conduct at least one safety audit per day using the designated digital platform, including annotated photos. </li><li>Share audit findings and corrective actions with the project team to ensure visibility and timely resolution. </li><li>Submit a minimum of two Safety Observation Reports (SORs) per week. </li><li>Spend 60-70% of your time in the field engaging with crews and monitoring safety practices. </li><li>Attend and contribute to daily huddles, coordination meetings, foremen's meetings, and preconstruction meetings. </li><li>Lead or support weekly all-hands safety meetings, including preparation of materials and attendance tracking. </li><li>Spot-check safety documentation during site visits and review Daily Action Plans (DAPs), High-Risk Activity Plans, and safety orientation records. </li><li>Immediately notify the project team and regional safety lead of any incidents or near-misses. </li><li>Assist in incident investigations and review reports prior to submission. </li><li>Ensure a 'Lessons Learned' summary is created for each incident or near miss. </li><li>Conduct site-specific safety orientations for all trade partners. </li><li>Maintain regular communication with subcontractor safety representatives. </li><li>Participate in or lead planning meetings for high-risk activities such as crane operations and confined space entry. </li><li>Maintain clear and frequent communication with the project team, safety leadership, and trade partners. </li><li>Be responsive to field inquiries and proactive in addressing safety concerns. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in construction safety and 4+ years of management experience. </li><li>Current CSP or CHST certification. </li><li>Current OSHA 510 Certificate or higher. </li><li>CPR and First Aid certification. </li><li>Experience supporting data center projects or commercial building construction. </li><li>Proficient with technology including Hammertech, ACC, and Microsoft Office. </li><li>Strong skills in high-risk activity planning. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Mission Critical experience is highly preferred. </li><li>Excellent communication skills across all levels of project teams. </li><li>Reliable, proactive, and able to support and align with the project schedule. </li><li>Experience in commercial building construction will be considered. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This role is based on-site in Chicago, IL, South Loop, with standard work hours from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Weekend hours are limited to Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, approximately 15 Saturdays during the project. You will spend 70% of your time in the field and 30% in the office. Flexibility is required to accommodate extended hours if project needs demand it. A strong safety-first culture is emphasized, and the team values collaboration and proactive problem-solving.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
