<p>Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description</p> <p>The Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in ensuring customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction by performing tests on production and finished product samples. This position ensures compliance with FDA, NYS regulations, and company standards in support of manufacturing dairy-related products.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Achieve goals in production, safety, quality, performance, and cost. </li><li>Notify others of mechanical malfunctions to enhance productivity and equipment capabilities. </li><li>Comply with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and plant policies, rules, and regulations. </li><li>Provide assistance and support in production facilities as assigned by the supervisor. </li><li>Gain competence in line circuits and ensure proper hookups in the facility. </li><li>Cover breaks, lunches, and other staffing needs as assigned. </li><li>Comply with legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety, reporting concerns to the supervisor. </li><li>Work safely and report safety concerns promptly, taking corrective actions as necessary. </li><li>Report food safety problems and support SQF by maintaining food safety and quality. </li><li>Ensure work areas are sanitary and adhere strictly to sanitation practices. </li><li>Communicate effectively between shifts and departments. </li><li>Conduct and evaluate product testing results to determine compliance with standards. </li><li>Release compliant products from hold using the computerized inventory management system. </li><li>Inspect and verify the sanitary condition of processing lines, fillers, tanks, and overall areas. </li><li>Validate vitamin additions and batching sheets for processing departments. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment. </li><li>Conduct microbiological, chemical, and sensory testing as required for finished products, in-process processes, and incoming materials. </li><li>Conduct bacteria/shelf life testing of fresh and stressed samples. </li><li>Maintain laboratory logbook and Hold/Disposition Log for the shift. </li><li>Log and send out COAs as testing completes. </li><li>Complete Titratable Acidity (TA) tests using all methods. </li><li>Conduct allergen testing as required. </li><li>Perform sterile sampling of tanks and report results in a timely manner. </li><li>Complete and report product testing using tally and Product Testing Record. </li><li>Perform cryoscope testing on milk products. </li><li>Verify product labeling accuracy. </li><li>Conduct EQA testing. </li><li>Complete shelf life sensory testing and attend training annually. </li><li>Perform butterfat and solids testing using appropriate equipment. </li><li>Conduct product sterility testing on samples received. </li><li>Update log and results for Product Hold and Disposition Log and follow up as needed. </li><li>Utilize LIMS system and verify analytical, sensory, and microbiological testing. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in basic to complex mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, along with knowledge of weights and measures. </li><li>Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. </li><li>Understanding of the company's mission, purpose, goals, and your role in achieving them. </li><li>Capability to operate facility equipment as required. </li><li>Completion of all company training requirements. </li><li>Ability to interpret company documents, literature, and UPC/code information. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a GED or High School Diploma required. </li><li>Associates degree in dairy/food sciences or equivalent is highly preferred. </li><li>1-2 years of experience in a similar food industry lab setting is highly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The position requires working a shift from 6pm to 6:30am, with availability needed during mornings, afternoons, or overnight any day of the week. Employees are expected to report to work well-groomed and dressed in business-appropriate attire, complying with GMP dress code standards. A commitment to maintaining a safe work environment is essential, and corrective actions should be taken immediately if safety concerns arise.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Syracuse, NY.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $24.50/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
