This means that applications are accepted even when a position is not currently available.</p> <p>Adjunct faculty must live in Utah. Adjunct applications are reviewed only as needed; therefore, applicants should be aware that they may not receive a response regarding the status of their application. Adjunct faculty are hired on an as-needed basis for a single-semester appointment. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon the results of a background check, which includes a criminal records check.</p> <p>Summary of Responsibilities</p> <p>Qualified applicants should be able to perform the following responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach assigned Emergency Services courses. </li><li>Align course assessments with Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) for each course taught. </li><li>Complete the Online Teaching Academy if teaching an online class(es). </li><li>Prepare instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, visual presentations, assignments) as necessary. </li><li>Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in classrooms and/or online using appropriate teaching methods. </li><li>Evaluate instruction and learning by means of appropriate testing methods. </li><li>Provide specific and timely feedback on student assignment submissions. </li><li>Maintain a student-oriented approach to education. </li><li>Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date reports and records related to student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up. </li><li>Meet established deadlines for final student grade submission. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications</p> <p>Master of Public Administration (MPA) or a closely related graduate degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience; OR a combination of education and relevant professional experience totaling 10 years.</p> <p>Knowledge / Skills / Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Extensive knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes, instructional strategies, and techniques. </li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of the appropriate field of study. </li><li>Effective human relations skills and communication techniques. </li><li>Skills in public speaking and report writing. </li><li>Ability to apply general principles effectively to specific conditions. </li><li>Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with people. </li></ul> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>UVU employment decisions are made on the basis of an applicant's qualifications and ability to perform the job without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age (40 and over), disability, veteran status, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related conditions, genetic information, or other bases protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.</p>
