<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Area Coordinator (AC) is an integral part of the Office of Community Living at Marietta College. Marietta is a primarily residential campus, with housing options ranging from traditional rooms to apartments and suites. The AC manages a specific grouping of residence halls on campus and advances the College's mission by supervising student paraprofessional staff, implementing strategies for community development, and engaging students in a program of community standards that fosters the mitigation of challenges within our residential community. The AC creates a climate that supports student growth and development by participating actively in the campus community and collaborating with colleagues in Student Life and other units on campus to support our students' engagement and success.</p> <p>The Area Coordinator (AC) is a professional staff member in the Division of Student Life. This is a full-time, live-in position with holistic responsibility for the supervision and oversight of a designated housing complex. In addition, there is a strong possibility that the AC will be able to have a collateral assignment within one of the following areas in Student Life: Greek Life, Campus Programming, Diversity and Inclusion, or New Student Engagement and Transition Programming. Any such collateral assignments will be made with the best interests of both the AC and the specific office in mind. The AC will:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain a healthy, actively engaged residential community and communicate with residents living in their area through individual contacts, meetings, and facilitated discussions </li><li>Maintain office hours that provide access to students and be available and visible at departmental and divisional programs and events </li><li>Manage all operational functions for assigned residential area ensuring safety, building maintenance, room and common area inventories, damage assessments, supervising opening and closing of the facilities throughout the year including assignments and occupancy management </li><li>Create and maintain an engaging living community that enhances the academic experience </li><li>Directly and indirectly supervise graduate/undergraduate staff and/or designated ACUHO-I intern(s) within their designated complex </li><li>Provide and participate in professional staff on-call coverage and duty schedule and respond as needed to crisis and emergency situations, communicate with all necessary levels of staff during emergency situations </li><li>Provide leadership and direction to residential students through individual conferences, programs, and interactions with students in and out of the Community Living Office </li><li>Provide intervention and referral for students experiencing interpersonal, developmental, or academic difficulties </li><li>Collaborate with campus colleagues, including but not limited to: Marietta College Police Department, Admissions, Student Financial Services, Physical Plant, Student Accounts, Dining, Student Life colleagues, and faculty </li><li>Represent the Office of Community Living in a variety of forums on- and off-campus; attend, conduct, or participate in a variety of meetings as assigned </li><li>Address student and parent issues and resolve them in a satisfactory manner </li><li>Mediate roommate, suite, apartment, or hall conflicts with sound judgment and follow-through </li><li>Serve as a hearing officer for violations of the Student Code of Conduct </li><li>If possible, complete training to become a Title IX pool member, assisting with gender-based conduct hearings when needed </li><li>Actively support the college's recruitment and retention efforts </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Living </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required, with strong preference for a Master's degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or a related field. </li><li>1-2 years of experience in residence life is strongly preferred (RA, graduate level experience, and/or professional experience) </li><li>Effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage and work in collaboration with others (students, parents, campus partners) </li><li>Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects </li><li>Ability to work independently </li><li>Availability to work evening and weekend hours as required for supervisory responsibilities, program support, and on-call duties </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>Live-in position with furnished apartment </li><li>Salaried position in an environment that is supportive of work-life balance </li><li>Partner and pet-friendly campus </li><li>Professional development opportunities </li><li>Looking for qualified applicants who are allergic to mediocrity and excited to advance the Community Living program to new heights! </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references.
