FILL IN SHIFT</p> <p>General Responsibilities:</p> <p>Train under direct supervision to work as the assistant filter plant operator and operator of a state-approved water purification plant under ADEM Administrative Code Division Seven (7) Rules and Regulations governing public water supplies. Train and gain the required experience to become certified as a Grade IV Water Plant Operator.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Filter Plant Operator in maintaining compliance with the Alabama Safe Drinking Water Act to ensure Public Health and Safety in operating a state-approved treatment plant </li><li>Receive chemicals and make proper chemical feed settings and ensure feeders are correctly functioning </li><li>Collect water samples and perform routine chemical, bacteriological and physical tests </li><li>Train on chlorine cylinder handling and maintenance of chlorine feeder equipment </li><li>Take readings, keep logs and assist with data collection and data entry on operations and equipment per ADEM Rules and Regulations ie, Turbidity records and Turbidimeters maintenance </li><li>Assist in maintaining plant equipment process feeders, etc </li><li>Function in other Operator Trainee slots that do not require certification </li><li>Perform requisition order work using the SAP system </li><li>Pass a respiratory, facial protective fit test successfully for handling chemicals this may include no facial hair for the protective fit test to be effective </li><li>Perform all work safely in accordance with established safety policies and procedures Comply with all safety and health standards and guidelines issued by management </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.. </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Functions Con't</p> <p>Essential Job Functions Con't</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of college or technical school preferred.</p> <p>Certifications</p> <p>Valid Driver's License required</p> <p>Fit Test for Respirator purposes required</p> <p>Passing grade on BWW Entrance Exam for Water Treatment Plants required</p> <p>Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Certification required or must obtain within 24 months of the hire date</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>Two (2) years of maintenance or related experience preferred; a certificate from technical/trade school may offset one year of work experience. Strong aptitude for chemistry and math is required.
