<p>Position Title:</p> <p>Postdoc in Wildlife Population Ecology</p> <p>Appointment Type:</p> <p>Post Doc/Trainee</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>The primary work will involve the analysis and publication of tracking data on Arctic shorebirds (tagged at Utqia?vik, Alaska and in Iowa) and a long-term dataset on Mountain Plovers in Montana (1995 to present); other bird/wildlife datasets will be explored as there is time and interest. Some of the data have been analyzed and partially written up, providing opportunities for multiple near-term manuscript submissions. The postdoc will be housed in NREM and will work with collaborators in Alaska.</p> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>An earned Ph.D. at the time of appointment in Wildlife Ecology, Conservation Biology, or a related natural resource discipline, excellent quantitative skills, and demonstrated scientific writing/publishing experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A background in population or community ecology.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in R programming.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with software programs such as MARK and DISTANCE.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience managing large databases.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)</p> </li></ul> <p>Department/Program & College Description:</p> <p>The Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management is dedicated to the understanding, effective management, and sustainable use of our renewable natural resources through the land-grant missions of teaching, research, and extension.</p> <p>Department Unit/Website:</p> <p>Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management</p> <p>Proposed Start Date:</p> <p>June 1, 2026</p> <p>Number of Months Employed Per Year:</p> <p>12 Month Work Period</p> <p>Time Type:</p> <p>Full time</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
