<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>At the Long Island State Veterans Home, our Pharmacy Assistants are valuable members of our team, who provide high quality and compassionate care to our residents, with the highest degree of integrity and respect. Under the general supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician prepares medications for dispensing pursuant to a Pharmacist reviewed medication order or computer-generated list.</p> <p>Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organization skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.</p> <p>Duties of a TH Pharmacy Assistant may include but are not limited to the following:</p> <p>Repacking of medications under the supervision of a Pharmacist.</p> <p>Preparing new medication orders or first doses.</p> <p>Maintaining appropriate levels of inventory in the work area.</p> <p>Maintaining proper medication storage.</p> <p>Delivery of medications and I.V. solutions to resident care areas.</p> <p>Completion of patient care unit inspections.</p> <p>Restocking of automated dispensing cabinets.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required qualifications:</p> <p>Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>A minimum of one year of hospital/nursing home pharmacy technician experience. Associate Degree or equivalent preferred.</p> <p>Posting Overview: This position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days. May be exposed to and be required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency and crisis situations. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.</p> <p>Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:</p> <ul> <li>The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation. </li><li>Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from the Long Island State Veterans Home Employee Health Department. </li><li>Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references. </li><li>Provide a copy of the required license(s)/certificate(s). </li></ul> <p>Please be advised that failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.</p> <p>Special Notes:</p> <ul> <li>The Long Island State Veterans Home is a tobacco-free environment. This means that when the Long Island State Veterans Home is faced with an emergency, employees in such positions are required to remain at their work location or to report to work. </li><li>The LISVH is a 24/7 skilled nursing facility.
