The more you participate, the more you earn! </li></ul> <p>Description:</p> <p>The Pediatric Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Specialist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services for children and adolescents with cancer receiving care at Riley Children's Health. As a core member of the pediatric hematology/oncology team, the specialist ensures safe, effective, and evidence based medication use in the inpatient setting.</p> <p>This role requires expertise in chemotherapy management, supportive care, investigational protocols, and complex therapeutics unique to pediatric oncology. The specialist supports direct patient care, clinical decision-making, education, research, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize outcomes for children undergoing cancer treatment. A PGY1 pharmacy residency (or equivalent experience) is required to be considered for this position. PGY2 in pediatrics or oncology preferred.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide comprehensive pharmacotherapy management for pediatric oncology patients, including treatment plans, chemotherapy dosing, verification, monitoring, and toxicity prevention. </li><li>Participate in daily multidisciplinary oncology rounds with oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, nutritionists, and other team members. </li><li>Ensure accuracy and safety in the ordering and administration of chemotherapy agents. </li><li>Manage supportive care therapies, including antimicrobials, anticoagulation, pain management, antiemetics, and transfusion-related medications. </li><li>Provide pharmacokinetic consultations (methotrexate, vancomycin, aminoglycosides). </li><li>Identify, prevent, and manage adverse drug events and medication-related issues. </li><li>Support pediatric oncology emergencies (febrile neutropenia, tumor lysis syndrome). </li><li>Serve as a key educator for pharmacy residents, pharmacy students, and oncology pharmacists, providing instruction in pediatric oncology therapeutics and safe medication practices. </li><li>Occasional weekend and holiday provision of clinical services. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Requires Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy prior to 2006. </li><li>Successful completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 or PGY2 residency may be required. </li><li>Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience. </li><li>Requires current Indiana Pharmacist license or eligibility for Indiana licensure as a Pharmacist. </li><li>Board certification or other specialized training may be required. </li><li>Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required. </li><li>May require travel to IU Health facilities. </li><li>May require weekend rotations. </li></ul>
