If you enjoy working with high school students full of enthusiasm with varying levels of skills and experience, working in wonderful facilities, and are yearning to become part of a dedicated and hardworking team of theater teachers, this may be the opportunity you've been looking for.</p> <p>In this role, you'll be working after school supervising students building and painting the sets and large prop pieces for each of our productions. You will need to work closely with the student designers and production team to plan budgets, do some technical drawing, order materials, and work hard to ensure the safety of the student stage hands and actors. During the week of the show, you will help supervise the running crew and the stage management team. During performances, you will help oversee students on the running crew and front of house staff.</p> <p>JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Planning and Materials Ordering</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work with directors and designers to cost out materials for set construction</p> </li><li> <p>Order materials needed</p> </li><li> <p>Be involved in the production planning process.</p> </li></ul> <p>Set Construction and Painting</p> <ul> <li> <p>Train students on how to operate scene shop materials safely</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise students during the construction process 3 or 4 days a week after school.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that the scene shop is clean, organized, and tools are maintained.</p> </li></ul> <p>Technical and Dress Rehearsals</p> <ul> <li>Attend all dress and technical rehearsals, working with student stage managers and running crew to ensure a safe and productive rehearsal. </li></ul> <p>Performances</p> <ul> <li>Attend all performances, helping provide adult supervision for the running crew and front of house staff. </li></ul> <p>Strike</p> <ul> <li>Attend strike, helping provide adult supervision of striking the show. Help return shop and theater to preshow condition. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>How to read and create technical drawings.</p> </li><li> <p>The conventions of building safe platforms, stairs, and flats.</p> </li><li> <p>How to use and instruct students on the safe use of the following tools:</p> </li><li> <p>Table Saw</p> </li><li> <p>Compound Mitre Saw</p> </li><li> <p>Bandsaw</p> </li><li> <p>Scrollsaw</p> </li><li> <p>Table Router</p> </li><li> <p>Panel Saw</p> </li><li> <p>Circular Saw</p> </li><li> <p>Reticulating Saw</p> </li><li> <p>Electric Drills</p> </li><li> <p>Hand Router</p> </li><li> <p>Various Pneumatic Staplers and Nail Guns</p> </li><li> <p>Offer advice on scenic painting techniques</p> </li><li> <p>The ability to keep on schedule and prioritize tasks.</p> </li></ul> <p>WHAT EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION YOU SHOULD HAVE BEFORE APPLYING:</p> <p>The candidate should have practical technical theater experience as well as knowledge of safety and generally accepted construction techniques and safety procedures. Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude are important as you'll be working with students and theater faculty.
