<p>Job Description:</p> <p>1.0 Library Media Specialist needed at Live Oaks Elementary School.</p> <p>This position is available August 24, 2026.</p> <p>Current CT School Library Media Specialist Certification (062) is required.</p> <p>Salary and benefits per MEA contract.</p> <p>Interested applicants must apply online at www.milforded.org in order to be considered for the position.</p> <p>No phone calls please.</p> <p>GOAL</p> <p>The Teaching and Learning Commons is the heart of our buildings where all learners, both students and adults, utilize the space to augment their learning through exploration, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. The Library Media Teacher collaborates with colleagues to engineer engaging learning experiences that promote student agency, goal settings, and risk-taking in a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment. Implementation and strategic execution of high quality instruction to support students' personal growth in alignment with the Milford Public Schools Vision of the Learner is an imperative element of this position. The Library Media Teacher works collaboratively with all learners to develop a culture that supports curriculum, individual literacy, and digital citizenship; maintains a rich collection of both print and non-print materials; and manages the Learning Commons as a flexible, multi-task environment.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities</p> <p>Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Empowers learners by modeling and teaching the skills necessary to access, evaluate, and use resources effectively and responsibly </li><li>Builds supportive and caring relationships to create an environment where students and adults feel supported and are empowered to take risks, demonstrate agency, and expand their knowledge </li><li>Provides active high quality learning experiences and opportunities that cultivate independent learning and meet the diverse needs of students </li><li>Assesses student learning before, during and after lessons; provides actionable feedback; alters instruction to meet group/individual needs </li><li>Fosters the development of digital citizenship and models safe and ethical procedures for online behaviors </li><li>Designs initiatives to encourage and engage learners in literacy for understanding and enjoyment </li><li>Engages students in collaborative tasks with members from diverse backgrounds to garner multiple perspectives through the examination of local and global issues and constructing real world solutions </li><li>Develops authentic tasks that are instructionally sound and include key critical thinking, literacy and social skills, as well as instructional technology with appropriate stakeholders </li><li>Engineers instructional experiences prompting learners to explore appropriate resources for inquiry-based research tasks </li><li>Assists learners in devising innovative solutions to a challenge and creating new knowledge </li><li>Imparts strategies to ethically and efficiently use, reuse, remix, or modify other's work in an appropriate and responsible manner </li><li>Connects instruction to discipline-specific content standards, as well as Connecticut Core Literacy Standards, AASL, and ISTE standards </li></ul>
