<p>Job Description:</p> <ul> <li>The Community Assistant is required to assist in the development and implementation of Community programming. This includes maintaining regular contact with each of the Resident Assistants and residents in the building. This also includes establishing a presence in the community, planning programs, and attending programs hosted by other staff. Specific programming requirements will be provided by each supervisor. The Community Assistant is required to attend training programs throughout the academic year as well as all staff functions. </li><li>The average workweek of a Community Assistant is 10 hours. It is assumed that Community Assistants will work irregular hours and the number of hours might vary by week during the semester. If a Community Assistant exceeds 10 hours per week for multiple weeks, the Community Assistant is expected to consult with the Supervisor to adjust priorities. </li><li>Timely and accurate completion of the following administrative responsibilities is required: Programming & Community Reports, Communication (phone, email, staff mailbox), Posting flyers, Researching college programming, Other duties as assigned. </li><li>The proper use of master keys, key cards, building keys, ID cards, passwords and other access mechanisms is critical to ensure the safety and security of residents and their belongings. Master keys, key cards, building keys, ID cards, and passwords are to be used only by Residence Life Staff. Under no circumstances should a staff member open a door to any person other than the resident of that room. </li><li>The Community Assistant is expected to maintain confidentiality. Confidential information obtained in the role of Community Assistant should not be shared with individuals outside of the Residence Life Staff (e.g., residents, parents, non-college members). </li><li>The Community Assistant is expected to serve as a positive role model in all contexts including residence halls, online forums, campus events, and the campus community. A Community Assistant's behavior and attitude should always reflect the position as a role model. The Community Assistant should display qualities of maturity, leadership, responsibility, and fairness. </li><li>The Community Assistant is expected to abide by local, state, and federal laws, and comply with all rules and regulations of the College including the student Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Residence Life Handbook. </li><li>Community Assistants are expected to maintain an appropriate standard of behavior. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>The Community Assistant must:</p> <ul> <li>Be a student at Onondaga Community College. </li><li>Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a semester GPA of 2.5 and be in good academic standing. </li><li>Be in good disciplinary standing with the College. </li><li>Community Assistant are not required to live in the residence halls, but it is preferred.
