<p>It's exciting to work for a company that makes the world measurably better.</p> <p>We're committed to bringing safety, quality, and customer focus to the business of advanced ceramics manufacturing.</p> <p>Job Title</p> <p>R&D Technician II</p> <p>Responsible for operating, cleaning, and maintaining industrial equipment in the development/pilot production of high-quality ceramics. In addition, responsible for sample organization and process testing to confirm quality throughout the process.</p> <p>This position supports the R&D team by operating and maintaining a large industrial spray dryer in a pilot production environment. It is a highly hands-on, physically demanding role with a primary focus on thorough cleaning and changeovers between batches to ensure high product quality standards are met. It is more production-focused, requiring consistent manual work, attention to detail, and comfort working in dusty, wet, and confined spaces.</p> <p>Roles & Responsibilities:</p> <p>Works under the engineering team following approved work instructions in the processing of high-quality ceramic powders. Assist in running tests, maintaining, and operating equipment, utilizing safe practices, reporting results to the area supervisor and engineering team. Is meticulous and works independently to clean, maintain, and operate equipment. Performs additional work on assigned improvement projects as well as provides strong feedback about regular process tasks. Performs data gathering and organization tasks requiring the use and application of appropriate software. Exhibits troubleshooting skills on specific equipment in area of responsibility; cleans and performs preventative maintenance as required. Cross-trained on equipment and process operations and complies with customer specifications as well as quality and safety standards.</p> <ul> <li>Operate, monitor, and maintain a large spray dryer system in support of pilot production and R&D processes. </li><li>Perform frequent changeovers between different material batches, ensuring complete cleanliness and readiness of equipment. </li><li>Execute deep cleaning of the spray dryer and related components, including harnessed entry into confined spaces, manual scrubbing, and high-volume wash-downs. </li><li>Accurately monitor dryer settings using HMI controls; log data as required. </li><li>Work on your feet for extended periods performing physically intensive cleaning and production tasks. </li><li>Wear appropriate PPE at all times, including respirator use when required. </li><li>Communicate with team members and leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. </li><li>Support other related cleaning, production, or material handling tasks as assigned. </li><li>Primarily on your feet, performing manual labor for the majority of each shift (~80% cleaning, ~20% operation/monitoring). </li><li>Strict attention to cleanliness and detail due to processing of various materials with different batch requirements. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years related work experience </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting preferred. </li></ul> <p>Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Intermediate math and writing skills and basic statistics knowledge required. </li><li>Able to generate basic technical reports. </li><li>Understands basic ceramic science principles for materials related to assigned projects and contributes appropriate observations and offers solutions. </li><li>Possess the ability to use the computer system for basic departmental functions. </li><li>Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds. </li><li>Exhibits effective cooperation and communication skills to effectively work within a team environment. </li></ul> <p>Position Specific Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times in work areas. </li><li>May be required to handle hazardous chemicals such as acids and solvents. </li><li>May be required to wear a respirator (a medical evaluation will be required prior to fitting). </li><li>May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. </li></ul> <p>Target Hiring Range</p> <p>Hourly: USD 22.39 - USD 27.07</p> <p>Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
