Pay Information $21.85 - $24.00/hr, Benefit Eligible Pay Schedule Hourly FLSA Designation Non-Exempt Position Summary</p> <p>The Shipping & Receiving (S&R) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) Shipping & Receiving department. This position ensures efficient handling of all inbound and outbound shipments, coordinates with campus departments and external vendors, and provides high-quality customer service across campus. The role includes planning, organizing, and implementing shipping logistics, maintaining compliance with hazardous material regulations, and providing backup support to Mail and Supply Services when needed. The Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting campus operations through timely delivery services, accurate billing processes, and effective problem resolution.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Responsibility Area: Management & Operations Support Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate daily Shipping & Receiving operations to support departmental goals. </li><li>Oversee shipping and receiving operations, including consultations and negotiations with vendors and customers for quality service and cost control. </li><li>Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant outbound shipping via UPS, FedEx, and special service carriers, including hazardous materials. </li><li>Provides backup support to Mail Services and Supply and Mail Logistics Clerks as needed. </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 25 Essential Function: Yes Responsibility Area: Customer Service & Campus Support Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a direct resource for faculty, staff, and students regarding shipping needs through in-person, phone, or email inquiries. </li><li>Coordinate Shipping & Receiving related campus moves, surplus removals, and freight shipments. </li><li>Addresses customer concerns regarding shipment status, delivery, or service quality. </li><li>Investigate and process "generic" packages with no clear recipient; coordinate appropriate delivery or return. </li><li>Deliver, collect, and manage outbound mail and packages. </li><li>Handle escalated or specialized customer service issues in the absence of the Mail Services Manager. </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 25 Essential Function: Yes Responsibility Area: Shipping & Receiving Logistics Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Plan and execute the distribution of incoming packages to designated campus locations from the MBSC Shipping & Receiving hub. </li><li>Provide support for both inbound and outbound freight, including coordination with third-party vendors. </li><li>Process billing and invoicing related to shipping activities; verify freight bills. </li><li>Ensure accurate recordkeeping for package tracking, delivery confirmations, and billing using QTrak and S.M.A.R.T. Quadient shipping software (UPS, FedEx).Prepare materials for shipment, including hazardous items, ensuring DOT/IATA compliance. </li><li>Perform regular maintenance of all S&R equipment and vehicles to support uninterrupted service. </li><li>Assist the Mail Services Manager with the oversight and coordination of mail and courier service activities, including route schedules and operational improvements. </li><li>Support departmental goals by proposing and implementing enhancements to shipping/delivery procedures and service timelines. </li><li>Act as backup to Mail Services Manager. </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 40 Essential Function: Yes Responsibility Area: Other Duties Duties:</p> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by Mail Services Manager.</p> <p>Percentage Of Time 10 Essential Function: Yes</p> <p>Required and Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent required.</p> <p>Required Experience</p> <p>Minimum of four (4) years of experience in mailroom operations, logistics, or related fields.</p> <p>Required License/Certification</p> <p>Valid Driver's license</p> <p>Dangerous Good/Dry Ice Certificate required within 60 days of hire.</p> <p>Required Additional Qualifications:</p> <p>NA</p> <p>Preferred Education</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field preferred.</p> <p>Preferred Experience</p> <p>At least one (1) year of supervisory experience, preferably in a higher education environment.</p> <p>Basic computer knowledge and/or data entry.
