<p>Description</p> <p>Job Title: Network Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Automation Engineer - Innovation Lab Services</p> <p>Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)</p> <p>Duration: 18 Months Contract</p> <p>Employment Type: W2 Only</p> <p>Seeking a highly skilled Network Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join the Innovation Lab Services team within Technology Infrastructure. This role focuses on designing, building, automating, and operating next-generation lab environments used for technology testing, certification, and proof-of-concept initiatives across the enterprise.</p> <p>The selected candidate will help deliver Lab-as-a-Service capabilities that enable architecture, engineering, and operations teams to rapidly test and validate new infrastructure technologies. This role requires deep expertise across networking, compute, storage, virtualization, automation, and cloud platforms.</p> <p>Project Details</p> <ul> <li>Project Type: Ongoing infrastructure innovation initiatives </li><li>Environment: Technology Infrastructure Innovation Labs </li><li>Focus: Lab-as-a-Service platform development, network automation, and infrastructure validation </li><li>Current Phase: Expansion of next-generation lab capabilities supporting enterprise technology initiatives </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design, build, automate, and operate next-generation lab environments for enterprise technology testing. </li><li>Deliver Lab-as-a-Service solutions to internal engineering and architecture teams. </li><li>Support proof-of-concept (POC) testing and technology certification initiatives. </li><li>Build and maintain complex network infrastructure environments including routing, switching, and security services. </li><li>Implement automation solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks. </li><li>Develop scripts and automation using Python and configuration management tools. </li><li>Configure and maintain virtualized and containerized infrastructure platforms. </li><li>Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering, and Operations teams to accelerate infrastructure innovation. </li><li>Support network performance testing, traffic generation, and lab automation capabilities. </li><li>Document architecture, processes, and technical solutions for enterprise adoption. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills & Qualifications Networking & Infrastructure</p> <ul> <li>Deep knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, routing, and switching. </li><li>Experience with MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, and enterprise networking protocols. </li><li>Strong understanding of: </li><li>Switching and routing </li><li>Application delivery </li><li>Firewalls and proxies </li><li>DNS and time services </li><li>Software Defined Networking (SDN) </li><li>Overlay networking </li></ul> <p>Systems & Platforms</p> <ul> <li> <p>Hands-on experience with:</p> </li><li> <p>Linux and Windows systems administration</p> </li><li> <p>Active Directory</p> </li><li> <p>VMware ESXi virtualization</p> </li><li> <p>Strong knowledge of compute, storage, and enterprise infrastructure environments.</p> </li></ul> <p>Automation & Programming</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks. </li><li>Automation using Terraform or Python. </li><li>Configuration management experience with Ansible / Ansible Tower. </li><li>Scripting experience in Python (Visual Basic is a plus). </li></ul> <p>Cloud & Virtualization</p> <ul> <li>Experience with private and public cloud environments. </li><li>Knowledge of network function virtualization (NFV). </li><li>Understanding of client-server architectures, containers, and virtualization platforms. </li></ul> <p>Professional Attributes</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication and documentation skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and within distributed global teams. </li><li>Highly motivated with strong problem-solving abilities. </li><li>Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines. </li><li>Quick learner with the ability to adopt emerging technologies and mentor others. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience working at Bank of America. </li><li>Experience with network traffic generation tools and lab automation platforms. </li><li>Exposure to enterprise innovation labs or large-scale infrastructure testing environments. </li></ul> <p>Education Bachelor's degree in one of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Telecommunications </li><li>Information Systems </li><li>Computer Science </li><li>Electrical Engineering </li><li>Data Communications </li></ul> <p>(or equivalent experience)</p> <p>Preferred Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Cisco: CCNP, CCDP, or CCIE </li><li>VMware: VCP, VCAP, or VCDP </li></ul> <p>About Matlen Silver</p> <p>Experience Matters.
