However, current Ohio University AFSCME 1699 bargaining unit employees will be given first consideration.</p> <p>This is a temporary position, if a current 1699 employee is selected for this temporary role, their benefits will continue without change; should an external employee be hired into the role on a temporary basis, they will only receive sick and retirement benefits as the position is less than 120 days.</p> <p>CURRENT OHIO UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES MUST INCLUDE THEIR OHIO UNIVERSITY EMPLOYMENT HISTORY AND ANY RELEVANT VERIFIABLE EXPERIENCE TO SHOW THEY MEET MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS CLASSIFICATION. Posting Number 20166910S Job Description</p> <p>Under general direction from lead worker or supervision from food service manager or other supervisor, weighs & mixes ingredients for baked goods and bakes short breads, pastries and puddings.</p> <ul> <li>Adheres to all OSHA and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines; </li><li>Weighs and mixes ingredients for baked goods and bakes basic baked goods according to production sheets and using standardized recipes, following departmental guidelines; </li><li>Decorates cakes and rolls; </li><li>Portions baked goods and wraps for delivery to dining areas and/or refrigerated storage; </li><li>Responsible for accurate assistance in staging all dining hall orders; </li><li>Cleans and sanitizes work area, utensils and equipment, reports accidents and malfunctioning equipment; </li><li>May oversee and mentor student employees; </li><li>Performs other related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>6 mos. experience in operation of large-scale bakery equipment & baking techniques; or equivalent; </li><li>Skill in bakery equipment operation; preparation of standard large-scale bakery products; </li><li>Ability to understand system of procedures; </li><li>Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form; </li><li>Ability to work independently or with others; </li><li>Willingness to foster a welcoming and respectful workforce and community </li><li>Demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of bakery tools & equipment; </li><li>Ability to read & write common vocabulary in sentence structure; </li><li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals & percentages; </li><li>Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems; </li><li>Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures; </li><li>Ability to lift 50 lbs.; </li><li>Exposed to hot ovens, extreme temperatures, and sharp utensils; </li><li>Ability to stand 8 hours/day; </li><li>Successful completion of a test may be required; </li><li>Established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Cake decorating</p> <p>developed after employment</p> <p>Department Culinary Services Pay Rate</p> <p>Pay Range |04|: $20.54 - $23.18</p> <p>Job Open Date 08/26/2025 Posting Close Date</p> <p>09/02/2025</p> <p>Job Category Classified AFSCME 1699 Bargaining Unit appointment Months variable month Planning Unit Vice President for Student Affairs Work Schedule</p> <p>This is a temporary position effective 9/19/2025 potentially until the end of Fall Semester,</p> <p>or longer if needed.
