<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services/Guidance Counselor</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>8/13/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Covenant Schools</p> <p>(High-Needs School)</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>Immediate</p> <p>District:</p> <p>&nbsp Covenant Schools Detroit&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Position: Graduation, College & Career Advisor</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Collaborates with: Director of Career Pathways</p> <p>Salary Range: $54k- $65k</p> <p>General Description:</p> <p>The primary functions of the Graduation, College & Career Advisor is to help every Covenant Schools student chart a course to graduation and beyond, connecting them with opportunities for further education, training, employment and career development.</p> <p>Educational and work experience requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required </li><li>Career preparation and/or placement experience preferred </li><li>School experience preferred </li><li>Master's degree in Guidance and/or School Counseling preferred </li><li>Valid Michigan School Counselor Certificate/License preferred </li></ul> <p>Essential skills and characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects </li><li>Highly organized and detail-oriented </li><li>Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations </li><li>Effective verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Able to work individually or in a team </li></ul> <p>Primary responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Create a master schedule w/administrator. </li><li>Schedule students in appropriate classes. </li><li>Maintain student academic files. </li><li>Coordinate student assessment and compile/disseminate test results to appropriate personnel, students and parents/guardians. </li><li>Provide crisis intervention services as appropriate and as requested by administrative personnel assigned to schools. </li><li>Guide students and parents in resolving educational, personal, and other barriers toward successful completion of their academic and career goals. </li><li>Develop and deliver career awareness and career preparation lessons. </li><li>Organize and supervise career-related guest speakers, field trips and activities. </li><li>Review student academic records and help each student develop their required Educational Development Plan (EDP.) </li><li>Work with students and parents to establish postsecondary and career preparation plans. </li><li>Assist students with college, apprenticeship, military and financial aid applications. </li><li>Issue work permits. </li><li>Act in accordance with the directives and assignments given by the Principal. </li></ul> <p>This job description is a summary of the responsibilities, duties, knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualifications associated with this position.
