Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week) and have no claim or entitlement to time off or cash compensation for hours worked beyond their normal schedule. However, unusual requirements for additional work time by these employees may be compensated by allowing roughly comparable amounts of time off, provided prior approval is given by the supervisor and Unit Head.</p> <p>Compensation:</p> <p>AFT - U24 - Steps 1-4</p> <p>$73,899 - $84,980</p> <p>Internal applicants' salary is based on union-negotiated calculations</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Under the direction of the Director of the Cahill Career Development Center, the Assistant Director serves as a primary career advisor to the School of Arts, Humanities, and Education. Oversees and provides advising for students to complete the AHE Pathways program requirements. Provides career development and graduate/professional school advisement for students.Provides co-operative education, career development, and graduate/professional school advisement for students.</p> <p>This is a full-time, 12-month position</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual and group career advising to AHE students and alumni. Assist students with career exploration, co-ops/internships, employment, and graduate/professional school preparation activities. </li><li>Serve as lead instructor for the AHE Pathways courses </li><li>Oversee co-operative education program inclusive of: serving as liaison with the Registrar, academic departments, employers, and students; providing students with resources to identify internships eligible to earn academic credit; maintaining accurate co-operative education records, guidelines, and procedures; monitoring student/employer evaluations; and conducting student orientation and reflection sessions. </li><li>Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Employer Engagement to develop new employer contacts and cultivate relationships to increase the number of cooperative education, internship, and career opportunities for students. </li><li>Plan and execute major AHE career events: major-specific career fairs, networking roundtables, mock interviews, etc. </li><li>Utilize Handshake (career management system) to disseminate information, schedule student appointments, review/approve documents, and manage events and programs. </li><li>Conduct document reviews using established guidelines. </li><li>Develop and present career workshops for students, alumni, clubs/organizations, faculty, classes, and staff as requested. </li><li>Maintain statistics and prepare reports for programs and services. </li><li>Represent Unit at college-wide events and serve on assigned college committees as needed. </li><li>Support Career Center activities and programs. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>EDUCATION</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a</p> <p>Master's degree in a related field.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Three years of professional experience in career development/services, human resources, or in any other employment-related service field.</p> <p>ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES</p> <p>Abilitytoestablishandmaintaineffectiverelationshipswithemployers, administration, faculty, staff and students and alumni</p> <p>Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with all levels of the organization in a collaborative way</p> <p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</p> <p>Excellent interpersonal skills</p> <p>Effective organizational and problem-solving skills</p> <p>Must be proficient in making presentations and in public speaking</p> <p>Strong marketing skills</p> <p>Comprehensive computer skills, including database management and website administration</p> <p>Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends as necessary.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>Ramapo College is an Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
