<p>Description</p> <p>The University of Mount Union is seeking a Groundskeeper for an open position within the physical plant department.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Position Reports to: Grounds Supervisor in the Physical Plant Department</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Operate push mowers and riding mowers performing regular lawn care duties of all University owned properties. </li><li>Trim lawn areas adjacent to sidewalks, parking lots, and landscaped bed areas using a string edge trimmer. </li><li>Operate other equipment including tractors, tow motor, standard shift trucks, and power washer. </li><li>Landscaping duties include leaf collection, planting flowers, trimming shrubs, weed control and pruning trees. </li><li>Assist with Garbage/recycling collection and care for all university signage. </li><li>Perform daily care and upkeep of all Grounds equipment. </li><li>During winter conditions, assist with snow and ice removal of all University buildings and grounds. </li><li>Duties include shoveling snow, spreading de-icing materials, operating a snow brush on a tractor and operating a truck with a snowplow. </li></ul> <p>The University provides professional training in all aspects of the Grounds keeping area. The Grounds Team is part of the Physical Plant Department with responsibilities for the care and upkeep of the 128-acre campus including 55 University owned buildings containing over 1.3 million square feet of building space.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: Previous grounds keeping experience helpful but not required. Knowledge of trees, plants, and other horticulture helpful. This position requires extensive physical activity including lifting and maneuvering up to 80 pounds, bending, climbing stairs, operating equipment, and other similar duties. A positive work attitude and a willingness to work together as a team are essential. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Must be available to work any shift, if needed. A valid Ohio Driver's License is required to operate University vehicles.</p> <p>Descriptive Information</p> <p>The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
