<p>The VP of Medical Affairs is a visionary and strategic leader who oversees the medical strategy and execution for our portfolio of three approved genetic therapies to treat sickle cell disease, transfusion dependent thalassemia and cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy, while also being a hands-on contributor. The ideal candidate will bring deep scientific and medical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, a drive to get things done and a passion for advancing transformative therapies that improve patient outcomes.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Strategic Leadership:</p> <ul> <li>Provide a case for the value of medical engagement and a plan for strategic growth of the team </li><li>and activities </li><li>Develop and lead the global medical affairs strategy for approved gene therapies, with a focus on </li><li>Lyfgenia in sickle cell disease and Zynteglo in transfusion-dependent thalassemia </li><li>Partner with Clinical Sciences and Commercial team to align medical strategy with corporate </li><li>objectives </li><li>Drive evidence generation, potentially including real-world data and post-marketing studies, to </li><li>support therapeutic value and optimize patient care </li></ul> <p>Medical Excellence:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure scientific rigor, medical accuracy and compliance in all medical activities </li><li>Oversee medical review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials, and medical </li><li>information services </li><li>Lead publication planning and scientific communications </li><li>Lead production of multichannel medical education materials </li><li>Contribute to medical documentation for payer reviews </li></ul> <p>Stakeholder Engagement:</p> <ul> <li>Cultivate relationships with key external experts, healthcare professionals and the broader clinical </li><li>care team, and patient advocacy groups </li><li>Represent the company at major scientific and medical conferences </li><li>Organize and lead advisory boards and medical symposia </li></ul> <p>Leadership and Team Building:</p> <ul> <li>Build and mentor a world-class medical affairs team </li><li>Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, efficient use of resources, and patient-centricity </li><li>across the organization </li><li>Mentor and develop medical talent across the organization </li></ul> <p>Innovation and Digital Transformation</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the implementation of a medical affairs self-service portal and leverage other digital tools </li><li>for omnichannel HCP engagement and medical education </li><li>Champion other digital health initiatives and data-driven decision making </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) with training and/or experience in hematology, cell and </li><li>gene therapy or a related field </li><li>10+ years of experience in Medical Affairs within pharma and biotech </li><li>Proven track record of strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration and efficient use of </li><li>limited resources </li><li>Strong understanding of healthcare ecosystems and regulatory requirements </li><li>Excellent communication, relationship-building, analytical and organizational skills </li><li>Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial biotech environment is highly desirable </li><li>Willingness to do the work in addition to leading the work of Medical Affairs as the team grows </li></ul>
