Kalamazoo Valley Community College creates innovative and equitable opportunities that empower all to learn, grow, and thrive.</p> <p>About the Opportunity</p> <p>Kalamazoo Valley Community College is seeking an Office Specialist to join our Institutional Support Services team. In this role, you will provide essential administrative support and deliver high-quality customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Serving as a primary point of contact, you will help ensure individuals receive accurate information about college services, programs, and resources while supporting the day-to-day clerical operations of your assigned department or unit.</p> <p>Other Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Completes special or on-going projects, tasks and responsibilities including processing student records and forms, office opening and closing, preparing reports, processing documents, tracking and monitoring student records and forms and monitoring purchase orders. </li><li>Receives office visitors and/or telephone calls, answers routine questions, takes messages and/or refers customers to appropriate personnel and picks-up, sorts and delivers mail. </li><li>Uses departmental computer systems and prepares office machines and equipment. </li><li>Collects and enters data, prepares standard forms and letters, maintains mailing lists and prepares and distributes brochures and other materials for publication. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling. </li><li>Knowledge of general office procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of record keeping procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of effective customer service principles. </li><li>Skill in the use of software applications related to the essential functions of the job. </li><li>Skill in effective verbal and written communication. </li><li>Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other personnel and the public. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Appropriate education, training, experience, and talents are required.
