<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Speech and Language Pathology-Assistant/SLP-A</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of an Associate's Degree in speech-language pathology/communication disorders, or post-secondary equivalent coursework, equivalent training, and experience. </li><li>Understanding of typical childhood development (including typical language development) </li><li>Demonstrate aptitude or competency in the skills required for an SLP -A </li><li>Prior experience working in a school setting, preferred </li><li>Bilingual, preferred </li><li>Good communication skills with students, coworkers, administrators </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. </li></ul> <p>Reports To: Director of Student Services, School Principal, and supervising Speech-Language Pathologist</p> <p>Job Description: Under the direct supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) works with students who have been identified as having speech-language disorders, as well as other disabilities that adversely affect the student's educational performance and requires specially designed instruction in order to succeed in the classroom; performs related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>The following duties and responsibilities to occur under the direct supervision of the certified/supervising SLP:</p> </li><li> <p>Implement documented treatment/session plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP</p> </li><li> <p>Document student performance, and report the information to the supervising SLP</p> </li><li> <p>Program and provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with screening of students to determine need for intervention (without interpretation)</p> </li><li> <p>Assists the supervising SLP during assessments of students exclusive of administration and/or interpretation</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with providing in-service education to team members, when applicable</p> </li><li> <p>Performs clerical duties such as preparing instructional materials and scheduling students</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate with teachers and school staff</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct oneself ethically within the scope of practice and responsibilities for an SLP-A, and behave in a manner that is consistent with the principles and rules outlined in the ASHA Code of Ethics</p> </li><li> <p>Self-identifies as an SLP-A to families, students, patients, clients, staff and others. This may be done verbally, in writing, and/or with titles on name badges.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend staff meetings, as required</p> </li><li> <p>Documentation of direct and indirect supervision</p> </li><li> <p>First 90 days a total of 30% supervision weekly (20% direct, 10% indirect).</p> </li><li> <p>After the first 90 days, minimum supervision of at least one hour per week.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains confidentiality with respect to students and their records</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates the ability to formulate meaningful questions to achieve effective outcomes</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in professional development activities which lead to improved job performance.</p> </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be determined by the Norwich Board of Education. Please note that salary listed is the current school year salary. The 25/26 school year salary is TBD.</p> <p>Salary: $41,990.95</p> <p>Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support services.</p>
