<p>Total Health Care, Inc.</p> <p>Title: Medical Assistant (MA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)</p> <p>Job Class Specification/Job Description</p> <p>Grade: TBD</p> <p>FLSA: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Financial Disclosure: May be required to file</p> <p>Designation as Essential Personnel: No</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Reporting to the Clinical Manager or Program Director and/or their designee, the Medical Assistant (MA) and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) are responsible</p> <p>for performing physician support services that help ensure that</p> <p>the medical centers run efficiently. The Total Health Care MA/CMA</p> <p>is an integral member of the healthcare team and is recognized as being one of the</p> <p>first clinical staff to engage with a patient during a provider visit. The tone</p> <p>set for the visit by the MA/CMA can contribute to the overall impression of the</p> <p>clinic and influence how the patient engages with the care team.</p> <p>General responsibilities for all medical assistants may include both administrative as</p> <p>well as clinical duties. Administrative duties involve collecting demographic</p> <p>and payment information from Total Health Care's (THC) patients at point of</p> <p>service, verifying and entering insurance information into THC's Electronic</p> <p>Medical Records (EMR) systems (dental, CESH, substance abuse, or medical),</p> <p>patient registration, scheduling appointments, processing encounters, and</p> <p>assisting with the reduction of unnecessary write-offs and negative adjustments</p> <p>for uncollectible charges. Clinical activities include performing necessary</p> <p>clinical assessments such as vital signs and POC testing, giving injections,</p> <p>performing EKG's, assisting with procedures, and documenting clinical</p> <p>activities in accordance with governmental and institutional guidelines and</p> <p>protocols.</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>Completion of an approved Medical Assistant program</p> <p>Completion of a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Ability to lift, carry, push or pull heavy objects in excess of 75lbs as well as squat,</p> <p>walk, climb, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, stand, grasp, reach, pull and</p> <p>repetitive motions.</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
