<p>Gifted Intervention Specialist</p> <p>Dennis Elementary</p> <p>SUMMARY: Under general direction, provides daily instruction to gifted students; prepares daily instructional lessons and supervises student participation in curricular, co-curricular and related activities.</p> <p>DUTIES/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Serves as an advocate for gifted students and assures that those gifted students' needs are met.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as a resource person for ideas and materials to help general education classroom teachers modify content,</p> </li></ol> <p>process, or product to meet identified student needs in the general education classroom.</p> <ol start="3"> <li> <p>Develops appropriate curricula based on content standards, student ability, achievement, and needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides instruction to assigned students; prepares and implements daily lesson plans in collaboration with the</p> </li></ol> <p>general education classroom teacher.</p> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Pulls together flexible groups for service to identified students of superior cognitive ability, specific academic achievement, creative thinking ability, or visual/[performing arts talent to provide instruction, seminars, or field-based experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in developing and implementing Written Educational Plans (WEP).</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains regular communication with teachers, parents, students, and administrators about the involvement and</p> </li></ol> <p>progress of the student as outlined in the WEP.</p> <ol start="8"> <li>Actively participates in the identification of students. Reviews test scores and other criteria with the gifted services </li></ol> <p>coordinator.</p> <ol start="9"> <li> <p>Assists guidance counselors and principals in the appropriate education placement of gifted students.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate student records. Evaluates students as directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Help provide ongoing staff development at the school site about the academic, emotional and social needs as well as</p> </li></ol> <p>characteristics of gifted students.</p> <ol start="12"> <li>Offer guidance and support to parents of gifted students about the academic, emotional, and social needs as well as </li></ol> <p>characteristics of gifted students.</p> <ol start="13"> <li>Attends and schedules parent-teacher conferences and informational meetings with students, parents, community, </li></ol> <p>and supervisors.</p> <ol start="14"> <li> <p>Attends professional conferences and workshops and shares information with colleagues.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.</p> </li></ol> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Bachelor's Degree.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Ohio Certificate/License with Gifted Education endorsement.</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass criminal background check.</p> </li></ol> <p>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Effective Date: 2025-2026 school year</p> <p>Length of Employment: One Year Limited Contract</p> <p>Salary and Fringe Benefits: Based on the current negotiated agreement.</p>
