<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Gallup Hill Elementary School is seeking a 5th Grade Teacher beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills. This is for an anticipated opening.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals </li><li>Ability to promote positive self-concept in each student; provide encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential </li><li>Demonstrate excellence in teaching </li><li>Enthusiasm for teaching and learning </li><li>Promote a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students </li><li>Understand social and emotional needs of students </li><li>Successful elementary teaching experience preferred </li><li>Ability to work with a diverse student population </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset </li><li>Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences </li><li>Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement </li><li>Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies </li><li>Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth </li><li>Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents, and staff </li><li>Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues in order to best meet the academic and social emotional needs of students as well as foster a positive school-wide culture </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times </li><li>Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child </li></ul> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>CT teaching certification (305) </li></ul> <p>Pay and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Per the Ledyard Education Association agreement </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
