The teacher will implement district-approved curriculum, deliver engaging instruction, and provide support to students with diverse learning needs. This role is essential in maintaining continuity in learning while the regular teacher is absent.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Deliver instruction using district-approved elementary curriculum. </li><li>Create a safe and supportive classroom conducive to learning. </li><li>Develop lesson plans that align with standards and student needs. </li><li>Use various teaching methods to support diverse learning styles. </li><li>Provide small group and individualized instruction as needed. </li><li>Monitor and assess student progress; adjust instruction accordingly. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance. </li><li>Foster positive communication with parents and guardians. </li><li>Promote responsible student behavior aligned with school policies. </li><li>Collaborate with other staff, including grade-level teams and specialists. </li><li>Supervise students during classroom transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal. </li><li>Attend faculty meetings and participate in professional development. </li><li>Administer assessments and standardized tests as required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field </li><li>Strong instructional and classroom management skills </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut Teaching Certification (005, 305, or 013) </li><li>Master's degree in Education or related field </li><li>Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of current teaching practices and educational pedagogy </li><li>Familiarity with elementary curriculum and differentiated instruction </li><li>Ability to analyze student data and implement learning strategies </li><li>Proficiency with educational technology and software tools </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills </li><li>Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning </li><li>Ability to foster strong relationships with students, staff, and families </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Equipment</p> <ul> <li>Standard school/classroom setting </li><li>Uses typical classroom technology: computers, printers, smart boards, tablets, copiers </li><li>May involve occasional lifting or movement of instructional materials </li></ul> <p>Travel Requirements</p> <ul> <li>May require travel between district buildings or to professional meetings </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>North Stonington Schools is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status.</p>
