<p>Primary Roles and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the management and implementation of accommodations for all campuses, including Capital University Law School and the Bexley Campus. </li><li>Gather, review, evaluate, and interpret documentation for purposes of determining appropriate, reasonable accommodations. </li><li>Conduct intake meetings as part of the interactive process. </li><li>Manage the coordination of academic and non-academic accommodations including testing, alternative academic material formats and texts, note-taking, ASL interpreting, captioning, assistive technology, housing (including emotional support animals), and dining modifications. </li><li>Meet with students as needed to discuss current accommodations, assess the need for reevaluation, foster student self-advocacy, and promote effective communication with instructors\/staff throughout a student's academic enrollment. </li><li>Meet with prospective students and family members to consult and discuss the accommodation process. </li><li>Advocate on behalf of students and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure proper facilitation of accommodations. </li><li>Promote a positive, student-centered, success-oriented atmosphere for students with disabilities. </li><li>Promote and support inclusive activities and policies in response to federal mandates of non-discrimination. </li><li>Provide consultation and training to faculty, staff, and students regarding the rights and responsibilities of all University community members and guests with disabilities or accommodations in a higher education setting. </li><li>Develop and maintain accessibility program materials, software systems, policies, websites, and other technology. </li><li>Maintain a working knowledge of best practices and legislation in the field. </li><li>Supervision of a Graduate Assistant, Administrative Assistant, student assistants, or other approved personnel. </li><li>Responsible for record-keeping, confidentiality, and reporting on university-wide statistics and sustain partnerships with key constituents at the University to continue to increase the overall accessibility of physical spaces, technologies, universal design, and curriculum. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in education\/special education, higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, social work, psychology, or related field required. </li><li>Minimum of three years professional experience providing direct service to individuals with a wide range of needs related to disabilities or accommodations. </li><li>Preference for individuals with experience within a post-secondary institution is required. </li><li>Demonstrated effectiveness and experience supervising, instructing, and reviewing work of others. </li><li>Knowledge of and ability to interpret Federal Regulation 504, the ADA, and various assessments and diagnostic tools. </li><li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents. </li><li>Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints. </li><li>Ability to write reports and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. </li><li>Ability to effectively present information to University constituencies. </li><li>Prior experience in Accommodate, Maxient, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Ellucian Colleague and Social Media Sites (Facebook\/Twitter). </li><li>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. </li><li>Ability to facilitate discussion groups and workshops; ability to coordinate events; ability to update and maintain social media presence and organizational listservs. </li></ul> <p>For more information on Capital University, visit our website at</p>
