<p>Position Title Director/Makerspace Innovation Division Vice President Academic Affairs(DIV) Department Teaching & Learning Center/Library Services Job Description</p> <p>The Director/Makerspace Innovation is a visionary, hands-on leader responsible for overseeing the daily operations, programming, and strategic growth of our Makerspace facility. This role ensures the Makerspace remains a vibrant, inclusive, and innovative hub for students, faculty, and the community to engage in creative, technical, and entrepreneurial activities. The Director will lead programming and marketing, develop partnerships, foster a culture of safety and collaboration, and continually expand the Makerspace's impact and reach.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Provide overall leadership, management, and strategic direction for the Makerspace and its programs. </li><li>Oversee daily operations to ensure the facility is safe, welcoming, and fully functional. </li><li>Develop and maintain policies, procedures and equipment certification training, related to equipment use, safety, and facility access. </li><li>Design, coordinate, and evaluate workshops, classes, events, and community outreach initiatives. </li><li>Cultivate partnerships with local schools, businesses, nonprofits, and industry stakeholders. </li><li>Manage the Makerspace budget, including purchasing equipment, supplies, and materials. </li><li>Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; coordinate regular maintenance and upgrades. </li><li>Promote the Makerspace through marketing, social media, and community engagement efforts. </li><li>Track and report on Makerspace usage, program outcomes, and community impact. </li><li>Seek grant opportunities and additional funding sources to expand offerings and services. </li><li>Build out workforce training programming and secure funding for those initiatives. </li><li>Advocate for a culture of creativity, innovation, inclusivity, and lifelong learning within the Makerspace community. </li><li>Coordinate the strategic use of Makerspace equipment for the creation of promotional materials and products that support Westmoreland's branding efforts and serve the needs of regional businesses. </li><li>Design and implement an entrepreneurial program within the Makerspace - such as the Maker-to-Market initiative - to empower students and members to launch, develop, and grow their business ventures. </li><li>Offer students and members comprehensive, hands-on support with project development, product prototyping, and equipment operation, serving as a dedicated resource to help them achieve their creative and business goals. </li><li>Perform job duties in accordance with College policies and procedures; adhere to bargaining unit agreements as applicable. </li></ul> <p>Other Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in departmental meetings, committees, work groups/teams, and professional organizations. </li><li>Enhance professional knowledge by keeping current with emerging practices; monitor developing trends; integrate new technologies as applicable. </li><li>Serve as a member of President's Council. </li><li>Advocate for the College at community events. </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in a related field required </li><li>5-7 years of related experience required; preferably Makerspace professional experience </li><li>Prior supervisory and management experience required </li><li>Experience with budget management required </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>3-5 years of entrepreneurship start-up experience preferred </li><li>Experience working with and supervising employees under labor contracts preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Prolonged sitting</p> <p>Frequent standing/walking or otherwise moving around</p> <p>Repetitive finger/hand movements</p> <p>Ability to climb stairs, balance, reach, stoop, and repeatedly bend</p> <p>Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.</p> <p>Salary $68,857 Schedule Days/Hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday</p> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Posting Number S-2023-210-P Number of Vacancies 1 Desired Start Date Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 08/07/2025 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Please have your resume, cover letter, transcripts, and information for three professional references to provide with your application.</p> <p>Advertising Summary</p>
