<p>Terms of Employment: 12-month</p> <p>Exemption Status: Exempt</p> <p>EACC SALARY SCALE A2_CS</p> <p>Salary Scales FY 2026 - Charles County Public Schools</p> <p>General Statement of Work: The Content Specialist for Fine and Performing Arts provides leadership and assistance in implementing the essential curriculum, preparing program assessments, and conducting staff development to enhance teaching strategies.</p> <p>Education and Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree and/or an Advanced Professional Certification in the content area, curriculum development, assessment, or related area. </li><li>Certification as an Administrator I (Supervisor) in Maryland preferred. </li><li>A minimum of 5 years of exemplary teaching experience in the arts. </li><li>A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in fine and performing arts, with some system-wide experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated leadership capability to include effective organization, communication, and human relations skills. </li><li>Ability to plan, organize, administer, and evaluate programs. </li><li>Experience working with county, regional, and state professional committees or organizations is helpful. </li><li>Knowledge of current trends, practices, and programs within the field of fine and performing arts. </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Collects and analyzes data to identify curricular, staff development, and assessment needs for the program. </li><li>Organizes and administers committees for curriculum development and evaluation of instructional materials. </li><li>Collaborates with central office and school-based staff to implement, monitor, and evaluate program status and needs. </li><li>Provides technical assistance to schools, other content areas, and departments regarding the program. </li><li>Plans, develops, and implements in-service and staff development courses relevant to the needs of professional personnel. </li><li>Serves as program liaison to the Maryland State Department of Education and other agencies. </li><li>Develops reports and provides information regarding program status for the school system and community groups. </li><li>Prepares and monitors budgets related to the program. </li><li>Analyzes state and county data related to student performance in fine and performing arts skills and content to determine program needs. </li><li>Provides leadership in reviewing and revising curricula (K-12). </li><li>Works with central office and school-based staff to provide information regarding program needs, current trends, and technical assistance. </li><li>Collaborates as part of an instructional team to support the implementation of system initiatives. </li><li>Provides essential staff development support for teachers and resource staff. </li><li>Provides support and direction to fine and performing arts chairs and resource staff. </li><li>Develops a system of formative and summative measures to determine program status in elementary and secondary. </li><li>Coordinates competitions, contests, and special projects related to the program. </li><li>Coordinates program with federal, state, and local policies and regulations. </li><li>Serves on committees inside and outside the Office of Teaching and Learning and school systems as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Reports To the Chief of Teaching and Learning</p> <p>Environmental Factors & Physical Requirements</p> <p>The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
