This individual will provide artistic direction, instruction, and leadership for productions at West Ottawa High School. The director will foster creativity, collaboration, and excellence in theatre arts while ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. This is an interim position for the 2025-26 school year.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Theatre or related field (preferred).</p> </li><li> <p>Prior experience directing high school or community theatre productions.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong background in theatre education, including acting, stagecraft, production, and performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a positive learning environment.</p> </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Direct and oversee all aspects of theatrical productions, including casting, rehearsals, technical elements, and performances.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with music directors, choreographers, technical directors, and parent/community volunteers to ensure high-quality productions.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise and mentor students in performance, stagecraft, and leadership roles.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage program logistics, including scheduling, budgets, fundraising, publicity, and facility use.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure student safety and compliance with school policies during rehearsals and performances.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote the theatre program within the school and community.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide ongoing communication with administration, staff, and families.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. </li><li>Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
