<p>Upper Valley Career Center</p> <p>Position Announcement</p> <p>Open Position: Paraprofessional - Explore Academic Classroom</p> <p>Location: Upper Valley Career Center Main High School Campus</p> <p>Employment Begins: Aug 11, 2025</p> <p>Application Deadline: May 30, 2025</p> <p>General Job Description:</p> <p>This position is an academic classroom paraprofessional in Explore, working daily with special needs students in a transitional academic classroom.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Performs student support services that may include assistance with daily living activities, behavior management, trial training, instructional support, social skills training, task redirection, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Works with small groups and/or individual students. Acquires basic proficiency in skills that support student needs..</p> </li><li> <p>Helps students with remedial and/or enrichment activities. Reinforces instructional objectives introduced by the Explore team. (Teachers, paraprofessionals and Coordinator). Helps incorporate IEP activities into classroom and career technical activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and assists with preparation of any materials necessary for the academic setting and employability/independent living skill practice. Prepares classroom and equipment for student use (hands on learning opportunities and employability training).</p> </li><li> <p>Performs clerical work related to classroom activities. Helps keep program areas orderly.</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to student requests for assistance. Avoids being intrusive. Solves concerns discreetly.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports an inclusive educational environment. Helps students with disabilities participate in appropriate learning activities as directed in both classroom and lab environments.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with student mobility needs. Helps students use assistive and/or augmentative devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participates in programmed field/study trips as directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervises non-classroom activities as directed (e.g., arrival/departure, lunch, field trips, media/library, computer lab, etc.). Monitors ill students until a nurse arrives.</p> </li><li> <p>Works with the Explore team (teacher/paras/coordinator) to address persistent behavior concerns.</p> </li><li> <p>Reports discipline problems, vandalism, graffiti, equipment malfunctions and other concerns.</p> </li><li> <p>Transports students when necessary (van).</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A valid state department of education license/certificate as determined at the time of employment.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators qualifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Must display flexibility, reliability, self-discipline, and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Exhibits effective organizational, time-management and resourceful problem-solving skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Must show evidence of core computer competencies deemed appropriate at the time of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets all mandated health screening requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to obtain school van driver certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Willing to attend CPI training.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.</p> </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Appropriate placement on the Paraprofessional Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Salary will range from $29,489.00 ( Class I.13, Step 0) to $34,866.00 (Class I.13, Step 5). Base contract is 194 Days. Minimum workday is 7 hours per day exclusive of a lunch break . One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.</p> <p>Other Benefits:</p> <p>School Employees Retirement System, Worker's Compensation, paid sick/personal leave, partial tuition reimbursement, and tax-sheltered retirement contributions. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance offered. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.</p> <p>Performance Evaluation:</p> <p>Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.</p> <p>This job posting description identifies general responsibilities and is not intended to be a complete list of all duties performed.
