This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, a passion for continuous improvement, and strong experience managing large, distributed teams. The Senior Director will lead a team of 30 internal associates and manage over 100 outsourced staff, driving operational efficiency and strategic transformation across core accounting processes.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead and develop the R2R team of 30+ associates, fostering a high-performance culture.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee accounting policies, controls, and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.</p> </li><li> <p>Drive automation and process improvements to enhance accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage vendor relationships and outsourced operations, monitoring SLAs and providing performance feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure financial data integrity and alignment with broader business goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyze financial performance and present actionable insights to senior leadership.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other applicable accounting standards and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish governance models, documentation standards, and best practices for process excellence.</p> </li></ul> <p>What You'll Bring</p> <ul> <li> <p>10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to lead large-scale accounting operations and transformation initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Expertise in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience managing vendor relationships and outsourced teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with enterprise accounting systems; SAP and BlackLine experience a plus.</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge & Competencies</p> <ul> <li> <p>Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance frameworks.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to assess and mitigate financial and operational risk.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with global accounting practices, transfer pricing, and tax regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong grasp of KPIs, financial metrics, and operational analytics.</p> </li><li> <p>Experienced in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.</p> </li><li> <p>Track record of driving service excellence and continuous improvement.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in performance monitoring, root cause analysis, and operational strategy.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to creating a culture of belonging and developing high-performing teams.</p> </li></ul> <p>At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet.
